trinidad
Last year, Southwark Council stopped issuing free recycling food bags for the cady. Where do residents now get there bags from, quantity, size and how much? Silviaprice
I buy them from Co/op or Sainsbury. They are biodegradable but fairly expensive. Can't remember how much exactly but something like50p a bag. Loz
50p? Ouch. Go onto Amazon or other online suppliers and you can get them for 5-7p a bag. kibris
If you put it into a plastic bag and bin it they will still take it away,i dont see why we should have to pay for something that southwark would like to be done. kibris
If you dont waste a lot of food then you would not need as many bags Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/163385-wheres-the-best-place-to-get-food-recycling-bags-for-ed-residents/#findComment-1166410 Share on other sites
BrandNewGuy
Peelings, tea bags, coffee grounds, eggshells and bones are not unnecessary waste, though. There are four of us in our house and we get through one or two caddy liners a week. 10p doesn't seem like an imposition. Nigello
Could this kind of waste be wrapped in newspaper - probably a good few layers? Siduhe
According to the Southwark website you can either use compostable bags or just place the food in the brown caddy loose (although they recommend that you line it with newspaper first). So no bag required - https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/food-and-garden-waste/recycle-your-food-waste Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/163385-wheres-the-best-place-to-get-food-recycling-bags-for-ed-residents/#findComment-1166519 Share on other sites

Robert Poste's Child
Definitely Poundland, much as I like the Lidl ones, which are better quality than the ones Southwark provided.
