pooh, a rail, a calamus, a dairyman, a bater, a canal--Panama

But that's a bit ridiculous.

How about Bob by Weird Al Yakovich (from Poodle Hat) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/0b/Weirdalpoodlehat.jpeg/200px-Weirdalpoodlehat.jpeg an entirely palendromic song:

I, man, am regal - a German am I

Never odd or even

If I had a hi-fi

Madam, I'm Adam

Too hot to hoot

No lemons, no melon

Too bad I hid a boot

Lisa Bonet ate no basil

Warsaw was raw

Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Rise to vote, sir

Do geese see god?

"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod

Rats live on no evil star

Won't lovers revolt now?

Race fast, safe car

Pa's a sap

Ma is as selfless as I am

May a moody baby doom a yam?

Ah, Satan sees Natasha

No devil lived on

Lonely Tylenol

Not a banana baton

No "x" in "Nixon"

O, stone, be not so

O Geronimo, no minor ego

"Naomi," I moan

"A Toyota's a Toyota"

A dog, a panic in a pagoda

Oh no! Don Ho!

Nurse, I spy gypsies - run!

Senile felines

Now I see bees I won

UFO tofu

We panic in a pew

Oozy rat in a sanitary zoo

God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!

Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog

Great stuff. My wife's birthday is palendromic: 27.11.72

Sorry to be the one to have to point this out about the esteemed Mr Yankovic?s video there but (Harmonica Solo) is not a palindrome.

In fact Olo Sacino Marh is bird from Japanese mythology that guarded the seventh level of the heaven of water and had lotus blossoms for feathers.

Don't worry, I'm not really a Yankovich fan. I culled the lyrics and info in a Wiki/Google fu session. To me he's always been a bit base in his humor and his pastiches are none too clever. However, AngryWhiteBoy Polka and this palindromes thing have lifted him up slightly in my eyes. Only slightly though.

I disagree. To make a song that rhymes and scans, entirely written in palindromes is quite clever. And then to use the Bob Dylan angle to imply that the song is deep and meaningful, when in fact the only meaningful thing about it is the palindromes, is also smart, especially since the lyrics are actually meaningless. So there's a lot of playful messing about with codes.

    • Hi She’s chipped and spayed and let out in the back garden. She hadn’t found her way to the front yet (which would have to be via other people’s back gardens) - but we’re worried she now has and has got lost.  Do your scanners pick up any microchipped cats? Thanks Emma
    • I was recommended George McMillan of  Rodemption Pest Solutions as I had a wasps nest in my roof. I just wanted to say he was very efficient, super conscientious and a very nice guy. My wasps nest is history! his number is 07977 522294
    • Hi, Is Linda spayed & microchipped? & was she let out into the road or garden? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes, so will keep an eye out for her.
    • Have you thought about applying for a Taxicard for her? They have black cabs, although also Addison Lee so you'd have to request a black cab. The service is subsidised to the user for a set number of journeys each month. She can have someone with her for journeys. You apply through your local borough.
