Otta
Can someone (BR) tell me, does a season ticket include every home game (cups n all)? Was thinking of getting one, but realistically I'm not sure I'd ever get to the evening matches, so may not be worth it. Bluerevolution
The first stage of consulatation on a proposed development of the stadium and surrounding area will take place on Saturday 19th JulyHadley Property Group have released the following information regarding the future of the club and stadium and the contents of the newsletter is below. All fans, along with the local community, are welcome to attend and add their comments.Welcome to our first community newsletter. As you may know Dulwich Hamlet FC has been in financial difficulties for a number of years. Hadley Property Group has recently acquired an interest in the site and Club and we have spent the past 6 months putting both its football and business operations on a more sustainable financial footing so that the Club has a future at Champion Hill. However as currently configured the facilities cannot continue to support the Club and a change in the layout and footprint of the buildings is needed. There is an opportunity to provide a new stadium and to invest in the open space located around the stadium. We have engaged the architects Farrells who are leaders in the field of masterplanning to work with all who have an interest in the area, including Club supporters, local residents and businesses, sports and recreation groups and Southwark Council. The first stage will be a consultation event to give everyone an opportunity to respond to our intial ideas for the future of the area based on the opportunities and constraints. This will take a place on Saturday 19th of July 2014 at Dulwich Hamlet Football Club. We hope that you are able to attend, but if this is not possible please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. Yours sincerely, Hadley Property Group Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16991-dulwich-hamlet/page/16/#findComment-762584 Share on other sites
Bluerevolution
An old Hamlet legend from yesteryear has passed away. Programme Editor John Lawrence pays tribute to one of our all-time greats:I am sorry to report that Dave Darvill, one of the Club's finest ever goalkeepers, passed away recently. He was in his early eighties. The Hamlet's regular no. 1 for much of the Fifties and the early Sixties, he made a total of 457 first team appearances for the Club, easily the most ever by a Hamlet goalkeeper. He gained representative honours for the Isthmian League, Surrey FA and London FA and played for the FA Amateur XI. One of his proudest moments was to selected as reserve goalkeeper for an England Amateur International against France in 1956.Also in 1956, he was a member of the Dulwich side that came within ninety minutes of playing at Wembley, when we lost 1-3 to Corinthian-Casuals in the semi-final of the FA Amateur Cup in front of a 27,000 crowd at Stamford Bridge.Dave won several medals with Dulwich, his only senior club, playing in two Surrey Senior Cup winning teams (1958 and 1959), two London Charity Cup victories and four successive triumphs in the South of the Thames Cup. In addition, he was an ever-present when Dulwich finished runners-up to Wimbledon in the Isthmian League in season 1958/59. He was also in goal, and only beaten three times, when Chelsea sent their full first team to play the Hamlet for the opening of the Club's floodlights in 1964.Despite living out of London for many years, Dave maintained his interest in the Club's fortunes and was a regular visitor when our Vice Presidents sponsored a match.I'm probably biased, because Dave was a boyhood hero from my early days of watching The Hamlet, but in later years I was privileged to get to know him fairly well and always found him to be excellent company.I'm sure all those with Dulwich Hamlet at heart would like to join me in offering their sincere condolences to Heather, his wife, and their children and grandchildren at this sad time. milk76
Well the property developers are showing their hand. This morning a glossy 'community newsletter' has been delivered around the neighbourhood. It states "as currently configured the facilities cannot continue to support the Club and a change in the layout and footprint of the buildings is needed. There is an opportunity to provide a new stadium and to invest in the open space located around the stadium."There is a handy map on the other side highlighting just how much space there is behind the club on the Greendale Playing Fields. What would 150 new properties near East Dulwich Station be worth to them? ?60 million? More? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/16991-dulwich-hamlet/page/16/#findComment-763532 Share on other sites
