Hard when the bar isn't geared up for serving 700 or so people in 15 minutes.

One idea would be a pre poured "quick queue" selling just one beer...Stella or whatever with one person pouring and one taking cash plus a few poured beforehand to save time. It won't go flat that quickly..

.

I think there was talk of that happening recently and it would be a good thing to do but so far it hasn't happened.

I was thinking along those lines, like an Irish pub with the Guinness lined up ready.

And yeah an outdoor sub bar for the posh beer would be good.

I went to the offy and got a couple of cold ones. Felt a bit bad, but not as bad as I feel when I miss half the match queuing.

we stewards are being urged to clamp down on off ground beer purchases so do us a favour and ask for a plastic cup from the bar- I know I shouldn't say this but it's not realistic to "police" and we are health and safety stewards not force stewards. We appreciate your help and co-operation

Comments re pre pulling pints is great however to do so would mean lack of choice, 1 lager, 1 bitter and Guinness if you guys are happy with that I will propose it, makes our lives easier

I think an outside bar under an awning (like the hotdog stand) for the guest ales would be perfect. May I suggest by the bus shelter stand or underneath it as there seems to always be fewer people over that side and would ease the scrum at the bar and around the area of the main stand.

The two Knights Brewery ales on Saturday were superb. The Morning Glory was particularly delicious and moreish but I couldn't be arsed to go back inside again to get more of the this beer nectar because of the queues.

It's go to be worth a go. If it creates a choice between waiting 20 minutes or 5 if all I want is a couple of pints of Hamlet then good.

I'm sure that as long as people can bring booze in and buy it cheap in Sainsbos there will always be a crowd who will.

But there's probably also a large section of people who would buy it in the ground if it was a decent price and readily available.

Do the profits from the bar benefit the club directly? If so the aim must surely be to maximise bar revenue. 200 pints at half time with a ?2 margin would easily cover staff costs and turn a profit? The buyers are there...just needs tweaking.

What about a bar outside as Jah says but rather than specialty ales have a "Quick Beer" queue serving just one lager and a second queue selling ales. That way those who want their rare pint of bishops sock can wait for it and the large number who aren't too choosey in that situation can get a quick pint of Stella.

Add a big sign by the bar that says "Buying your beer here directly benefits your club" and you're onto something.

I'm sure there was a little beer stand for one of the Palace games a couple of seasons' ago - no? Or was it last season? Actually, I can't really remember when it was...but I do vaguely recall a separate beer stall for a "big" game...in the corner where the car park wall adjoins the away terraces...did I imagine that? :-S
I was there on Saturday and had a really tasty new beer but I also missed nearly 25 mins of second half. As nice as that beer was I won't be doing that again. I come to watch the match not stand in a queue. If you are rading this Dulwich Hamlet i wonder if you could do what some theatres do and take pre-orders? The punter pays up front, his drink is labelled with his name and he collects it from a central point at half time.

    • You literally just edited your earlier reply to remove the point you made about it being “politicians”.  Then you call me pathetic.    I’m  not trying to say you approve any of the ugly right wing nonsense.  But I AM Saying your earlier post suggesting  violent rhetoric being “left wing” was one-sided and incorrect
    • I never said that. Saying I don’t like some of the rhetoric coming from the left doesn’t mean I approve of Farage et al saying that Afghans being brought here to protect their lives and thank them for their service means there is an incalculable threat to women.    Anything to score a cheap point. It’s pretty pathetic.
    • To be fair we are as hosed as the majority of other countries post-Covid. The problem is Labour promised way too much and leant in on the we need change and we will deliver it and it was clear to anyone with a modicum of sense that no change was going to happen quickly and actually taking the reigns may have been a massive poison- chalice. As Labour are finding to their cost - there are no easy answers.  A wealth tax seems straightforward but look how Labour have U-turned on elements of non-dom - why? Because the super rich started leaving the country in their droves and whilst we all may want them to pay more tax they already pay a big chunk already and the government saw there was a problem.
    • You don’t think there are right-wing politicians fanning this with rhetoric? Really?
