Winter babies club (due Dec 2011, Jan/Feb 2012)

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen any of you for months due to having school run commitments, but might come along next week if you're meeting (with my big kids in tow too). From September both of my older children will be at school full time so it will be easier for me to meet up with Kate. Hard to believe my winter baby is 6 months old today!

We will try to come and say hello, I think we are meeting friends for a picnic in the park so should be in the area. I'm the stressed looking one with 5 year old boy, 4 year old girl and 6 monthold. Purple Bugaboo Bee x

A sheepish mail to let you know if you're TV watching tonight, I have the grand total of one line that I filmed whilst secretly pregnant with Jonah, in a BBC1 drama, Bert and Dickie, at 8.30 pm tonight, about the 1948 Olympic rowing team success, with Matt Smith aka Doctor Who in the lead role. It's a good drama and you will need a very keen eye to spot me - about halfway through, in a scene set in the Olympic organisers office. I'm first in shot, and glamourously named Helper One. I imagine you have more chance of spotting my name in the end credits! For me it's a big toss up between watching that and Superstar on ITV, which I'm shamefully addicted to!

See some of you tomorrow for the Olympic torch event.

Hi Lindsay - Sounds great! Will try and spot you tonight if Jeanne lets us...it's a bit difficult to put her in bed at the moment, I think because she's teething but we never really know what's going on with these little ones... When and where are you meeting tomorrow for the olympic torch event... I won't have Jeanne tomorrow as she's at the nursery but was thinking of going anyway so I'd rather do it with you guys.

Ooh how exciting! I'll make sure I catch it on iplayer in the morning!

Shameless plug alert - if anyone is looking for child care from September I can recommend a great nanny with her own child (at Heber nursery in the mornings) who is available for 3-4 days and has experience of working nanny shares. PM me if you want any further info.

See you tomorrow at petitou Loren, look forward to seeing you - anyone else up for it?

Hello,

Anyone up for meeting tomorrow? I haven't been able to make the last few weeks so have been missing out! We have allergy testing in the morning so I'm thinking any good distractions in the afternoon might help my grumpy baby get through the day...

Allo - we'll be along for a speed gossip before picking up Albster. Will be nearer three as J still asleep and very randomly I'm in the middle of making soup for Alb's tea. Never made any of any description before - cakes I understand, but soup?! Only explanation is chronic sleep deprivation induced weirdness! X

Hello,

As there is a new lot of Winter Babies due now, a few of us were thinking about moving on to a facebook group so that we can share details and photos etc as well as leaving the board with just one Winter Babies Club to minimise confusion.

So far we have done it through word of mouth when we meet up, but there are a number of people who came to the meet ups when pregnant but haven't been to any since and who may be following the thread. One of the best things about having the forum baby clubs is that they are open to all, and I wanted to let people who haven't been able to meet up know that there is still the opportunity to meet up even if the thread has gone quiet.

It can be found through this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/425802494124436/ or by searching for Winter Babies Club on facebook.

x Elli

    • Thanks  for the reminder nellie. Have today received two letters dated February 2024. Heading down to Highshore Road tomorrow to see if there's anything for us. I'm getting obsessive about missing/late arriving bills since having our phone and broadband cut off when we hadn't received (so hadn't paid) a bill from BT that had been posted to us. I now keep a note in my diary of when the various utility bills are expected, and phoning them when I think something is due, invariably they say the bill has been sent out. It shouldn't be so hard.
    • He’ll need to apply to building control if he’s removing a chimney breast, as that has to be signed off once the work is done. Make sure the joists for your floor are extended to full width of the room once the chimney breast is removed. Ours weren’t (by the previous owner when they removed the chimney breast in the kitchen) and the floor above was dipping by a few inches.
    • Chimney breast removal definitely requires party wall agreement and if yours above is not being removed it will require steels to support the chimney breast above.  You should consult your own party wall surveyor and serve notices on your neighbour and they will be liable for the cost of your surveyor.  Also worth contacting the southwark building regs inspector for advice as removing a load bearing wall also requires steels to support the walls above and will require building regs. Has your neighbour shown you the plans to show how they are going to support your walls above?
    • I live in a flat. My downstairs neighbour is having various work done including: Chimney breast removal (mine would stay) Internal wall removal (it's a supporting wall and mine is above) Knocking down of external walls that support mine and adding extension. He says his surveyor said this doesn't need a party wall survey because we don't share any party walls. Three surveyors I spoke to said the chimney breasts at a minimum do (party structure). Is there specific law I can quote on this? And if not, what do I do next? (Flats are leasehold, he has permission from them for external work, not sure about internal). He doesn't have council planning consent for the chimney or internal walls.
