I have some sad friends. If I didn't learn this stuff half their conversations would go over my head.

Wikipedia enlightens us:

Pwn (/oʊn/, /poʊn/, /pəʔˈoʊn/, /pɔ??n/, /piˈoʊn/, /pwəʔˈn̩/) is a slang term that implies domination or humiliation of a rival, used primarily in the Internet gaming culture to taunt an opponent that has just been soundly defeated. Past tense is sometimes spelled pwnt (pronounced with a t sound) or pwned (with the standard d sound). Examples include "pwnage" or "you just got pwned". It can also be used, especially by non-gamers, in the context of getting "pwned" by The Man.

The word "pwn" may have arisen and spread as a common typo of the word "own," due to the proximity of the 'p' and 'o' keys on a standard English keyboard. Alternatively, the word pwnage may have been created as a portmanteau of the words "pure" and "ownage," "perfect" and "ownage," or "powerful" and "ownage." Similarly, "pwn" may have derived from "powerfully owned," such as you just got powerfully owned (shortened to you just got pwned).

    • I don't think it's just dog-owners who are half-wits. An actual human has taken a dump in a newspaper and left it lying on CP Road. Flies are having a field day. I ought to tell the council but pity the poor person sent to clean it up.
    • In the proud spirit of stating the bleeding obvious (!) here is some more RSPCA advice re dogs in hot cars and a downloadable leaflet which contains emergency first aid for heatstroke: https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/health/dogsinhotcars https://www.rspca.org.uk/documents/1494939/7712578/Dogs In Hot Cars Leaflet.pdf/ade4c043-90ee-7091-c97f-02f047f7b4b3
    • What exactly is the point of having a go at someone who is trying to help and spread useful information? Is the heat getting to people? What does it matter what someone calls dogs?
    • In this heat, our wildlife from bees to birds and squirrels rely on our help. Please think about leaving out a tub of water for them… bees like a shallow dish with rounded stones for them to stand on while they drink.  Doesn’t  take much to help our local wildlife… get the kids to help!!! many thanks x
