In the context of our two Porn barons, I hardly think it matters if it glistens or glisters, either way it will have a German accent and lots of pubic hair. Brings a whole new meaning to I'm Forever blowing......

Can't say I'm too happy about our new owners but I suppose it's better than nothing.

Welcome back Anna. (I won't mention you know who, honest.)

Rumour that Paul Lambert has been talking to Celtic - but that's just wishful thinking on the Celtic rumour mill I guess. At least Paul Lambert knows every team needs at least one striker to win a game. Simples.

Who said Shreks temprament has improved? Spat his dummy out as expected in the second half. I'll lay odds he'll get sent off in the world cup. Well in Tevez, shut the Rags up good and proper. Remember though, Berbatov is a better player. You're 'aving a larf!!

Think it was Gary Chuckle..

Loved Tevez gesturing at the Rags. Thoroughly deserved, especially gesturing at Shrek who tried to put him off my talking to him in the run up. Isn't that unsporting conduct and a bookable offence? Van der saar getting booked for wasting time, beautiful. Even 5 minutes Fergie time wasn't enough for the forces of darkness to get on level terms, well in.

You need to support a different team to begin to enjoy your football again matt. How about arsenal?

Come on ...as one of my mates put on his Facebook profile yesterday

"Two of my favourite things combined - West Ham and porn"

Great game last night - Tevez was gesturing at Neville is the version I've read.

Tevez is and will always remain a hero to me - with the exception of united he's almost universally loved by the fans of all the clubs he's played for. Workrate, skill, heart, honesty, bravery and respect to the fans...a rare example in modern footballers.

Anna -thanks for the Cottee info, can't get there though.

even LadyMacGabhann was commenting on the crowd last night. Great cuptie and nicely setup for the second leg

Most Hammers fans seem happy with yesterday's developments and as I want them in the top tier I hope it works out. Although I don't trust SulliGold at all, and nothing to do with their other business interests

I think most West Ham fans are happy with some stability and that the financial 'meltdown' now probably won't happen. If we don't sell anyone we 'should' stay up too. I'm not sure that they're completley assured about G&S but beggars & choosers etc.

I still wonder how many clubs are likely to unravel - Pompey/Wigan/Hull......Man U/Liverpool??? Personally, I'd love it if Chelsea went bust. It appears Arsenal are the only top club who have done it properly and deserve some acknowledgement for that.

I think United are going to be in serious trouble in the next few months. I wouldn't be suprised if they went bust at all. Arsenal, Chelsea and City are probably the only three who are safe.

Quids, all the united fans I know liked Tevez until the summer, then there was so much double dealing and bs from both camps that it soured the whole relationship for us. There aren't many ex-players of ours (even the crap ones) who we don't respect and acknowledge but the whole thing was handled very badly.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
