I wouldn't say the chavs, Citeh, or anybody else that matter, is safe. If Abramovich were to walk away from the chavs I think they would be in serious trouble.

However, Wenger has always maintained that the financial well being of the club has always been upper most in his mind when dealing with transfers and players wages, so fair play to him. It seems that the Prem has encouraged an environment where we pay over the odds for average players, hence the influx of players from abroad, and over the top wages. We only have oursleves to blame. You would have thought we would have taken heed and not made the same mistakes made by the Italians and the Spanish in recent years, but hey ho.

Loyalty is an alien concept to players and has been for the last 15/20 years. Remember Wayne Rooneys statement that he was a blue for life or words to that effect, Henry that he would always be a gooner, Ronaldo jumping ship, Fat Boy Lampard holding the chavs to ransom during the summer. Don't expect loyalty from anyone Keef even players in your own team, it merely invites disappointment. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Torres and Gerrard jump ship in the summer or if Cesc buggered off to Barca. It happens mate, we might not like it, but what can you do.

Once a Blue always a Manc is what he really meant to say..

I think it works both ways with players quitting, you can't blame a player for walking when he has previously been treated like a dog, and that is why no Liverpool fan holds it against Alonso for forcing a move to Madrid.

As for Sol Campbell I have no sympathy in the regard he is held up and down the country.

if the story about Campbell suing is true then he is indeed, as keef says... etc

But something about that story, on top of the court decision yesterday makes me think this is the work of somebody else. I have no idea who or why but i wouldn't be surprised to learn that Campbell hasn't sued anyone in weeks to come

Sol is simply getting his debt registered before Pompey go into Administration. It's a nothing story. Sol will end up with 2 bob in the pound like everyone else! :( Pompey wind up on 10th Feb so will enter admin on the 9th I expect.

Beyond caring tbh!!

BTW the whole image rights think is easy on the tax for both club and player - usually paid in lieu of wages.... just a tax dodge really!!

Had to check what that meant Ratty

Image Rights are taxable - but are paid to the players company rather than as wages (apparently);

what has actually happened is that the club will have made gross payments to a players image rights company, which declares the income as taxable...and pays corporation tax accordingly.

the company also has expenses that it offsets against the income that the player would otherwise be unable to do if the income was employment income....eg. the image rights company may employ members of the players family.

so both player and man utd save on the nic and the player also has access to expenses that he would otherwise be unable to claim relief for.

thanks

Not really a football matter but anyway.

Nice comeback shows Arsenal's title credentials perhaps? Nah.

Glad Arsenal won last night but their behaviour over the Gallas tackle was desperate. Arsenal are the first ones to blubber like babies when play continues (remember Spurs scoring a goal at Highbury few yrs back). It leaves a sour taste in the mouth when Wenger compounds matters by dismissing the Gallas ankle breaker on the grounds of worse challenges had allegedly taken place over the two games by Bolton.

In the end Liverpool deserved 3 points against Spurs and on reflection they were probably the ideal team to build confidence such was the lameness of Tottenham .. still I wish I'd done a split screen to have watched the 10 goal bonaza on the BBC!

My two sons and I went to the game last night and managed to catch the last 6 minutes of the Spuds game, great evening all round. So the FA will do nothing about the Gallas tackle. It shows they are consistent if nothing else. They did sod all about the leg breaker on Eduardo, so they've shown some sort of consistency. Taylor giving it large to Arsenal fans after he scored soon had his celebrations rammed down his throat. Come on you gunners, tough games coming up but I think we'll do well. We might not win the league but coming from 2 nil down WITHOUT a fit recognised striker shows we're not in a bad way and have confounded the soppy so called "expert pundits". Sour grapes Coyle should have stayed at Burnley.

    • My understanding is the "free event" is 100% Gala, nothing to do with the council. Obviously Gala will still make money from the food & drink that they are trying to coerce punters into buying on their social media posts. Their costs will be negligible due to already having the infrastructure in place for Gala. So Gala are trying to appear community minded by providing this "free event", but the real goal is to set a precedent for a fourth day's festival - which surely no one could possibly object to?!? - in preparation for applying (again) for two three-day festivals spread over two weekends. It's only another two days, right, and the site & equipment is already there, so why would anyone object?!? More money for the council, much more money for Gala, win-win right? But yet another week of our park taken away from us, too, and another 18,000 people trampling & littering the park, and another week of disturbance for the native birds & wildlife...
    • Meson Don Felipe on The Cut was my go to place for many years. Though it's now many years since I was there. 10-15 minute walk from the Tate. If you go can you tell me what it's like nowadays?
    • Doubt you would have got much change out of £150.00 for battery and certainly having forked out for it, best to use your car. I recently sold  my car via webuyanycar.com - very pleasant experience & was roughly what I was expecting. Pop your bangers reg jnto their website to get an idea of price - they do send e mails once a fortnight/month just as an aid for you. Easy enough to delete - don’t even have to read valuation. They literally buy any car - if you can’t get it to them, they will charge you to get it there or recommend a co that will do it for you. Must say, mine was a 2014 reg and whilst a bit suspicious, paid extra to get money into my account as needed it for next car but was assured funds had I not gone down route I took would be in my account within 5 days. I now live in the country - every time I have been back to Dulwich and surrounding area, normally get a fine for driving at wrong time or parking at  wrong time so if I drive now, park in West or East Dulwich and do everything else by public transport and walking.  Were I still to be living in ED then before I left was pondering this very issue but since I have been back regularly for health reason I no longer drive but take the train and then buses, walk or Uber. Much cheaper than running a car and had I stayed, that would have been the course I would have taken. I don’t go out everyday, have an allotment or job to go to or family so in my case, would be cheaper not to have a car.  Was truely shocked   at the cost of second hand cars…..but where I now live only has a smattering of buses so no choice but to have wheels to get from A to B etc.
    • If you don't use the car often then suggest disconnect the battery between use by undoing the earth (negative / minus sign) cable from the battery and the battery will then last longer between use. Remember, central locking, alarm, clock, etc won't work with battery disconnected and wit ours I have to lock the doors with central locking before disconnecting battery as only have key on one door (leave bonnet open before locking doors). Hope this helps
