the same ropey defence that's kept 6 clean sheets in the last 7 games?

Really? My apologies then. I still tend to think of Spurs as wobbly at the back but good going forward. It appears the facts are against that opinion though.

Fair play. Although I note that only Man City were a big team amongst those clean sheets.

it's fair comment.....we have been playing with our 3rd and 4th choice centre halves though......ironic then that harry drops bassong to the bench and brings ledley king back and we concede two to a struggling liverpool side!

I agree about that. Bassong and Dawson have played well this season. Strangely Bassong had forgotten to put on his shorts just prior to coming on against Liverpool and had to be reminded as he was about to enter field of play in his pants. Maybe he's not the brightest spark.

I thought that too. Ledley was a little off the pace but then it was Bassong who gave away the penalty. I was gutted we didn't come away with at least a point, though I guess I was a little over-confident that we'd do so after Liverpool's recent woes. I'm predicting a Spurs win and to be fair we should beat Leeds in a canter but anything can happen in the FA Cup as was proved in the last round. Who'd have thought Reading would have turned over Liverpool and Leeds knocking out Man Utd.

I gave a warning about abuse (a polite one).

Then a last warning.

Atila Reincarnate's got a one week ban.

Keef, if you are meaning me then I won't be shedding any tears but I also don't spend every single post on here being abusive, rude and bullying.

If you look back over my posts for while I have been ignoring Atila and trying to change the subject when he goes off on one. I don't name call and I don't abuse and bully. If he comes back a changed man then all the better, however I doubt it but I'm glad there's a week on here where I don't have to trawl through his not very informative bile. Sorry if that's harsh but I know there's a few people on here who agree.

Apologies to Admin if this seems like milking or gloating but this has been coming for a while.

Sorry it seems exactly like gloating and milking it. Declan name calls, albeit in, I assume, gaelic and very poor attempt at Turkish and Reincarnate gets the ban. Very poor show Admin, very poor. Most of the posters on all threads have at some point been pissy and yet again get away with it. Sandperson and Declan are perhaps the most provocative two on here and when someone hits back they get all sanctimonious and hide behind the administrators petticoats. Rock on Reincaranate

SP, I do mean you, and one or two others. You say you "ignore him", but that is bol!ocks quite frankly. Don't get all defensive and go off in a huff, because you're a good poster, and you bring opinion to this thread, but don't go playing Mr innocent either.

I think Atila is undoubtedly his own worst enemy, getting wound right up over the slightest thing, and he is WAAAAY over the top quite often. I wish he'd been able to take off his Arsenal glasses, and just answer the questions about Man U earlier, and just talk footy with a bit of harmless banter, but he is obviously very passionate, and that quickly turns in to very aggressive, and out of order posts.

However, me and some others have managed to not get in to all this shite with him, so how did we manage that?

Anna is not the only one to have quit this thread, and I don't think people tend to quit the thread because of Atila.

Yes my main man Keef, thats word.

I make people quit the thread? Keef, the problem for me is that most of the time people aren't winding him up they are trying to have a discussion and even when his points are good they are surrounded by name calling and abuse. You only have to look at the J Ross thread for more evidence that He's like that all the time. Maybe you are right. If I drive people away It's time for a break.

    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
    • "What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???" Why is it perceived, Reeves is responsible for doubling the "black hole" to £20b through the public sector pay increases. You can't live beyond your means and when you try you go bankrupt pdq. In 4 yrs time if this Govt survives that long and the country doesn't go bust before then, in 2029 I dread to think the state the country will be in.  At least Sunak and co had inflation back to 2% with unemployment being stable and not rising.
    • He seemed to me to be fully immersed in the Jeremy Corbyn ethos of the Labour Party. I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
