This is why the Premier league will not allow it (wrongly in my opinion), and will look to pay off the clubs debts with an advance on the parachute payments! Despicable and should not be allowed. If Pompey have fooked up so badly they should be wound up, simple as. Get the mercenary coonts out of my club and let us fans start again!

Jah, is this your attempt at wanting to be loved by fellow forumites and wanting to be in their gang? To qoute you, how juvenile.

Atila, let's get this straight. I've no intention of deigning to acknowledge you anymore because of your constantly rude and abrasive style, or no style at all as the case may be.

You constantly act like a stroppy little playground bully. According to you every other team is shit apart from your beloved Arsenal. You're an idiot and one should never argue with an idiot because they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Get used to being ignored because I'm not only person on this thread who'll be doing exactly the same because they are fed up with your constant baiting.

Roberto Mancini, the Manchester City manager, expects Wayne Bridge to commit to England despite his personal problems with John Terry. Fabio Capello's World Cup plans suffered a huge setback last night when Ashley Cole was ruled out of action for three months.

David Moyes, the Everton manager, is backing Leighton Baines' claims for a place in England's World Cup squad. The 25-year-old, who twice featured for Fabio Capello last year, could force his way into the reckoning following Cole's injury.

Sepp Blatter hit back at the European critics who are drawing attention to South Africa's safety record before the World Cup finals this summer. "Every year 11 million tourists go to South Africa and nobody says they should not go there," he said. "It's a kind of anti-Africa prejudice."

Ryan Giggs will miss the Carling Cup final after being ruled out for up to four weeks with a fractured arm. The Manchester United midfielder was injured in a collision during the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa this week. He will also be unavailable for at least the first leg of the Champions League tie against AC Milan on Tuesday.

Just as Manuel Almunia, the Arsenal goalkeeper, was emphasising the importance to the club and their supporters of Cesc Fabregas, the Spain midfielder's father was telling a Catalan TV station that his son could listen to offers from rivals in the summer.

I seem to recall before the European Championships that certain Croatian players based over here felt they were being targeted for rough treatment by England players in the hope that they would get injured before their next meeting in the qualifying tournament. Is it just me but could Landon Donovan's challenge on Ashley Cole possibly be seen in the same light?
Based on some of the challenges made by Everton players last Saturday I think it is just the School of Science's way of playing football to try and win games. Not as bad as the infamous Dogs of War under Joe Royle in mid-nineties but nevertheless a Club very bitter about the relative success of other Clubs that were also in the Big 5 (i.e. Arsenal, Spurs, United, Liverpool).

You are getting all paranoid already Jah - and its only February.....

I'm curious what your opinions are re Bridge/Terry if Bridge could not find it in himself to play with Terry or even if he said he could, if it might not be for the good of the team overall. Given Cole's injury it's unlikely he is going to be fit for the WC.Bridge is the obvious replacement. Could not the B/T scenario not affect morale in the group of players? If so, if you were Capello and saw this after the pre WC friendlies, who would you leave behind? I would leave Terry as a) it was his fault and b) I think he is over-rated.

PS It's an insult free zone here today.....great!

62,000? Have you watched any games this season? 40,000 tops if you're lucky.

However I might go through the books and see if some could be donated more locally. I think in any charity shop staffed by volunteers, the reception you get must depend on the member of staff. The Oxfam bookshop have always been very happy when I've taken shedloads of books there in the past. On the other hand, I've taken things to the hospice shop that were received very grumpily when they hadn't even looked in the bag or asked what they were. It felt like I was being a nuisance and causing them more work. I don't remember a previous thread on here  about the Oxfam shop and parking, but that's possibly because it wasn't relevant to me at the time.
