No I had my ears open - he actually said, "typical Germans, you can't dispute that they're like that". FA might have let him off the hook with those remarks if it was a domestic match - but I think he'll now be charged by UEFA. No need for that xenophobic nonsense especially on national TV.

Interview - http://www.itv.com/sport/football/news/championsleague/matchvideo/videosiralexfergusononmanutdschampionsleagueexit8677/default.html

Are you saying it's not typical of the Germans then Matthew? SAF said they got him sent off by running to the ref whilst observers at the match noticed that he had put his card back in his pocket once he realised he would have to send the player off.

As for it being xenophobic nonsense, he was saying what he thought about a particular type of behaviour. He could probably have included other nationalities too, but United were playing Germans.

The German team displayed comebackability and a resilience which dumped an English team out of the cup - this has happened many times before and is essentiallya compliment - there is nothing xenophobic about it.

He didn't accuse the German's of invading Poland or even stealing the beach towels before anyone else - sheesh

And of the 4 "English" teams not to make it to the semi finals that the media are holding a wake for this morning, how many English players represent them, along with an English manager??!!

Arsenal - 1 player (Walcott). Manager = French.

Chelsea - 2 players (Terry & Lampard - can't count Cole as he's hardly played this year). Manager = Italian.

Liverpool - 2 players (Gerrard & Carragher - don't think there are any more). Manager = Spanish.

Man U - 2 last night (Ferdinand & Rooney - suppose you could add Neville & Scholes to that so 4). Manager = Scottish.

So out of a possible 48 players and managers being from an English league, less than 20% of the staff are English. Probably not even bought with "English" money either!

I expect my figures above are wrong and stand to be corrected.

You also forgot Carrick for Man U. I'd also include players from the British Isles in general so you could add Fletcher, Gibson, Giggs. Man U do pretty well on this front but Arsenal's quota of British players is shocking.

Anyway, my point about the low amount of German players in Bayern team was because Fergie called Bayern typical Germans.

Why is it typical? On what basis do you agree with Ferguson. It infers that all Germans are conmen and that the British Isles is one of fair play.

Fergie's comments are a bit silly. He likes to lash out when he's beaten and I can't see it being any more than that. I can't defend the comments if they were meant in amy sort of jingoistic way. We were knocked out by two soft and easily preventable goals and some petulism from a young, inexperienced player. The way we played on the whole gave me heart as it's some of the best play I've seen from united this season. I just hope Rooney is fit for some of the run in.

As Quids suggested you were, maybe try fishing somewhere else?

    • What was he doing on the stage at Glastonbury? Or on the stage at the other concert in Finsbury Park? Grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst pissed and stoned 20 somethings on the promise of free internet sung-- Oh Jeremy Corbyn---  What were his policies for Northern mining towns with no jobs or infrastructure? Free Internet and university places for youngsters. What were his other manifesto pledges? Why all the ambiguity over Brexit?  I didn't like Thatcher, Blair or May or Tony but I respected them as politicians because they stood by what they believed in. I respect all politicians across the board that stick to their principles. Corbyn didn't and its why he got  annihilated at the polls. A socialist, anti imperialist and anti capitalist that said he voted for an imperialist and pro capitalist cabal. He refused to say how he'd vote over and over again until the last knockings. He did so to appease the Islington elite and middle class students he was courting. The same people that were screaming that Brexit was racist. At the same time the EU were holding black and Asian immigrants in refugee camps overseas but not a word on that! Corbyn created and courted a student union protest movement that screamed at and shouted down anyone not on the left . They claimed Starmer and the centre right of labour were tories. He didn't get elected  because he, his movement and policies were unelectable, twice. He turned out not to have the convictions of his politics and died on his own sword.    Reform won't win an election. All the idiots that voted for them to keep out Labour actually enabled Labour. They'll be back voting tory next time.    Farage wouldn't be able to make his millions if he was in power. He's a very devious shyster but I very much doubt he'd actually want the responsibility that governance requires.
    • The purge of hard left members that were part of Corbyn's, Mcdonnel's and Lansmans momentum that purged the party of right wing and centrist members. That's politics. It's what Blair did to win, its what Starmer had to do to win. This country doesn't vote in extreme left or right governments. That's partly why Corbyn lost  We're pretty much a centrist bunch.  It doesn't make it false either. It's an opinion based on the voting patterns, demography and statistics. Can you explain then why former mining constituencies that despise the tories voted for them or abstained rather than vote for Corbyns Labour?  What is the truth then? But he never got elected!!! Why? He should have been binned off there and then. Why he was allowed to hang about is an outrage. I hold him party responsible for the shit show that we've had to endure since.
    • Depends on what the Barista says doesnt it? There was no physical confrontation with the driver, OP thinks she is being targetted when she isnt. These guys work min wage under strict schedules so give them a break unless they damage your stuff
