Is it true that Danny Blanchflower was the creator in chief.

Tottenham become the first English winners of a European trophy when they destroyed Atl?tico Madrid by five goals to one in Rotterdam to lift the European Cup Winners Cup, with White scoring one of the five goals himself

This team obviously had no problem scoring goals.

I have never seen a goalkeeper win a reputation so quickly as Joe Hart.

Goalkeeping is a position where you should win your reputation as being dependable for long term consistency, over a number of seasons. Joe Hart cannot be considered a top goalkeeper until judged over a couple of seasons.

Good as he seems to be, Joe Hart is goalkeeping in an era where the ball is moving more than it ever did before, and he could well be heading for a fall.

What will Man City do then? I guess Shay Given knows he could well be back in the mix at some point.

Blue/MM, Having had the good fortune to see Joe Hart last season, I have no doubt he is going to be a great keeper. At the start of last season, he had raw technique and a tendency to flap at crosses. As he developed an understanding with the (stable) defence in front of him, his reading of the game improved. Also, his technical ability came on leaps and bounds last year, which he puts down to the coaching of Dave Watson. He has the unshakeable attitude and confidence of youth (check his save from Lampard on Boxing Day last year - sure it's out there on YouTube - and his reaction to Frankie boy). Undoubtedly he is still learning, but cannot see him heading for a fall. Yesterday's error seem to be from a lack of understanding with his defence, which he should develop over the next few games. Also, seems like a good guy off the pitch - hope he stays like that.

Still feeling smug Anna? Mid-table mediocrity becokons. ;-)

Regarding yesterdays match, I was pleased I got to the pub late, and missed most of the first half, as it was shite. Good thing the keeper was in form, but to be fair, Birminham don't lose at home very often, so there is no shame in a draw.

Didn't think I'd ever enjoy "Fergie time", but it happened this weekend.

The point about Hart was not related to Saturday's mistake, which I had not seen, but more a general point that a goalkeeper's reputation should be based on a reasonable period of time.

Hart is still "potentially" a top goalkeeper for me. Lots still to do.

Reina is right up there - he's been top drawer for a number of seasons. As have Given and Cech.

Hart is likely to suffer a dent to his reputation sometime soon as we are in an era where the ball moves like it did not do in the past. Its almost inevitable. Its how he reacts then that will determine his long term future. Robinson took a long time to come back from the cock up for England, as have Green and Carson.

Hart has the ability no doubt, but the test of mental strength is still ahead of him.

Anyone remember Jim Leighton?

    • That looks consistent with what I saw when I checked a few weeks ago, after someone raised a fresh thread asking about the progress.  I was about to post here asking if anyone could help with what seemed a bit of  a  mystery.  The planning register didn't show the application as decided.  I couldn't find any minutes of the committee meeting that James reported on last year, or any mention in any other minutes of the application.  The meeting was itself  flagged in the meetings schedule as MOVED (presumably to another date).   Incidentally, I remember one of the atttached planning documents being a report on the financial prospects then pertaining.  As far as I understood and remember it seemed to show the construction for sale of the buildings a ? poor prospect for the investment.  I'm no expert though.
    • Hi sue  so this year I think I fed them a tomato food but only probably three to four times in the summer  don't over water them  I put mine outdoors in about march depending on the weather as long as there's not going to be any frost and bring them back indoors September october-ish or when I think the frost is coming
    • What do you feed it with? Just a general all purpose feed? Clearly I am doing something wrong with mine! They flower every year, but they don't have anything like that amount of flowers!
