I thought Blackburn would stick with him until the end of the season as it would be the safest way for the new owners guaranteeing staying up and protecting their investment. Today they were 10th favourites to get relegated with a favourable run of games coming up, think the odds on them getting relegated will drop.

Now thinking of owners who would be keen to protect their investment and who need to see a bit more fight in their team...Gold and Sullivan?

I hate Allardyce football by the way.

That's a tricky game over and a good result for us, obviously. It was a good game all-in-all, with plenty of action. What Ronney was thinking about with this Jonny Wilkinson run-up I'll never know.

Narnia, it wasn't just the pitch but those pesky defenders too!

Man Utd adopted a relatively defensive formation, guessing Arsenal would huff and puff to no great effect, and that Man Utd could then score on a break

Quality was largely absent although Nani was excellent, Anderson not far behnd and the young pole in the Arsenal goal looks a good prospect

Rooney missed spectacularly from the penalty spot

Don?t think I missed much else of interest

There are a lot of football snobs around who don't like the Allardyce style of play, and it would certainly not sit well with west ham and their history, but he might get the job done.

Personally I think calling Allardyce's style backward etc is just a current state of mind given the attractions of Barcelona and Spain, but football goes in cycles and people will tire of the passing possession game if they don't achieve results.

At the end of the day, all teams can adopt a more graceful style of play, but there can only be a few winning teams and the also rans have to play to their strengths.

Its interesting that the Blackburn captain was very disappointed to see big Sam go, and I feel he gets a bad press.

I don't think it's snobbish to value style over results.

If it was all about the success then West Ham wouldn't have any fans at all let's face.

This goes against the DNA of the club and would be a bad idea.

I for one would honestly prefer to go down than have Allardyce in charge.

Well said mate, couldn't agree more. Maybe he could do a job for Celtic, not pretty but effective.

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!

    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
