Good calls otta.

Weirdly I thought we weren't going to get anything from the last ten years, as the music industry has changed so much, it's all about an immediate impact these days, whether you're signed and if your first album fails you're cast into the wilderness or whether you're a 'youtube sensation' who's follow ups invariably disappoint (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, I'm looking at you!!!)

Bound to be a matter of tate this one but I'd go for...

The Manic's - 'Holy Bible', 3rd album and not as commercially successful as 'Everything Must Go' but I think they'd shot their bolt by then.

A 3rd album for fans of radio smooth...

Melody Gardot - 'My One And Only Thrill' (Live from SoHo being an EP)...

Another one down to taste but...

Talking Heads - 'Fear Of Music', the one that turned my head in their direction.

I can go with MSP as it was Holy Bible that got them the wider acclaim, though I'm sure fans will freak at the thought that the first two are no good. as for EMG I don't care what happened late, I'm looking for slow starters.

I can have TH as your personal point of view, but seeing as their first two albums are classics I can't let them in ;)

I was considering Led Zep on the rather weak effort that it was on III that they really found that distinctly Led Zep sound rather than being a fantastic blues rock band with a distinctive sound, if you see what I mean, but considering the first two are total classics with many of the all time best loved songs on them, I can't allow that either.

It's actually really hard isn't it.

Yello - You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess ... (The album with 'I Love You' and though the 3rd album it's still way before everything they did was used by BBC sports broadcasters and/or US film soundtracks of the 80s)

They Might Be Giants - Flood.

And for bonus points what about-

T.Rex - T. Rex ... Debut album of band's abbreviated name but fifth album overall.

Coool Maxxi.

I've a fifth album up my sleeve too.

The Shamen produced god-awful post goth indie-rock psychedelia fare until dropping some pills and producing the then classic En-Tact, before resuming on the turgid [now dancey] rubbish path.

It hasn't aged well though.

    • I'd have thought they could use some of  their income from hiring out a large part of Brockwell Park in the summer (therefore, as I understand it, preventing local residents from using much of it) to put on a firework display there  in the autumn which might somewhat make up to those residents for the previous loss of use of the park. And also generate goodwill.
    • Clicking on your name, I see you've made seven posts on here since you joined  around four years ago, and they've all been about local libraries. And none of the posts are  very pleasant. Care to share with the rest of us where  your particular interest in libraries comes from? Do you work in one of them?
    • Kam was with us last week to wallpaper a bedroom. He was a pleasure to deal with and did a fantastic job - very neat and matched the tricky pattern very well. Would certainly use again.
    • What a bunch of pieholes. 2025 and you peasants have nothing to be grateful for. I have been inside the library recently and honestly the old girl is crying for a facelift, the goddamn carpet looks like it survived the world war and some. The Library is one of the oldest in Southwark and you are crying about a study place? What a bunch of bullshit. You have libraries all around you for your kids to go their studying you rotten sausage. How about be happy that the library is going to look absolutely stunning rather than be a whining bitch about it   Also, I have been told that the staffs have to work in the smaller libraries together. How do you think they feel?
