I know there is a whole other thread going on about whether kids trick or treat and I do not want to get into the whole debate about it but was wondering about when those who will be partaking will be putting out theor pumpkins to welcome all the little ghosts and ghouls..

With Halloween being on a Monday I thought that the bulk of the Halloween activity would be on the Saturday before so was planning to put my pumpkin out then and go trick or treating myself..

Would we be the only ones out there?

Noooo, Halloween is on the 31st. Not any other date. I love Halloween & my kids have trick or treated with pleasure since the 1990's, but if you come to my door before the 31st you'll be sent away with a flea in your ear - no matter how cute your kids are.

Why would you do that anyway? What's wrong with Monday?

nothing to do with the law

if you're depending on someone else's generosity, then it helps to have a shared understanding about what's acceptable and when

anyone knocking on our door with a 'trick or treat?' any day except 31st Oct will be received with an incredulous laugh and go away empty handed

    • Seems to be back on now although pressure reduced especially for hot water via boiler. Hopefully I can have a shower in the morning.
    • It’s far too hot. Dogs should not be out and you’re right to post this.
    • Agree that you have to be so careful dogs in this heat… but please dont judge so quickly.  Its one thing if you see a dog at midday being thrown the ball endlessly, but if you see a dog en route / somewhere - You dont know if that dog was being walked to the vet for an emergency appointment.. or taken to a friend’s house that is cooler etc.  And if they live in a flat, they might desperately need to be taken out for a quick pee / poo !
    • I know,  absolutely crazy.  A dog has never died because it didn't have a walk, but dogs do die if walked in this heat. Perhaps the owners should put on a thick fur coat, take their shoes off and jog round the pavements, and see how that feels! 🤬
