Beware this evening - there is a little scumbag on a stolen yellow OFO bike cruising East Dulwich Road trying to steal phones out of peoples hands.

I was walking past the petrol station and he cruised past me slowly looking back, then crossed the road, sped up and tried to snatch a phone out of a guys hand at the playpark traffic lights. Gave chase, but he got away down towards the Gowlett.

Black teenager, around 16/17 yo

Black hoodie pulled up

Black trackies

Black trainers

Tried calling 101 but with the carnival on.... no joy.

Be careful. Or be daring and knock him off his bike.....

That?s ridiculous, we?re on Adys and it?s absolutely fine. As is Crystal Palace Rd. Also with car parked both sides, plenty of street trees and regular traffic I?d have thought getting to pedestrins on these roads would be tough.

Sorry Fox but you've got a hangup about this, they're no worse than any other parts of ED. Take a look at the Met's regional crime maps and you'll see.

On another note, those hire bikes are a bloody nuisance and the sooner they're banned the better. Fortunately it looks as though they might be gone soon anyway: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/aug/25/mobike-no-more-dockless-bikes-could-soon-be-gone-from-uk-streets

Yes those OFO bikes seem to have become the preferred transport of dodgy youth who haven't got their paws on a moped yet-

The other day of Rye Lane I got circled by some youths on OFO bikes, they hesitated when I stopeed at a busy bus stop, nodded to each other and headed down a side street

FFS.

This is London.

I walk alone late at night all round here.

It's fine. As with anywhere at night, or indeed during the day, you have to be aware of what's going on around you.

If you don't want to do that, go and live in the middle of nowhere, or else live in London and never venture out of your house.

FFS. Again :))

ETA: In case it's not obvious, this is in answer to alarmist posts on here ....

Yesterday I saw one of these bikes propped against a wall on the corner of Wood Vale and Lordship Lane. Where are these yellow bikes picked up from? Is it the local train stations? Are they really needed in an area where transport links are so good? These bikes are manna from heaven for unscrupulous little g*ts!
The Chinese are obviously far more respectful. It's probably to do with upbringing and clearly knowing right from wrong. It does say on the OFO website "leave OFO bikes anywhere that traditional bike parking is allowed"! In this case obviously against someone's garden wall!

I didn't mean you!

I meant people saying whole areas round here were dangerous!

You can get mugged anywhere, it's bad luck but it doesn't mean everybody should always avoid that area forever.

And nothing to do with the fear engendered by living in a militarised dictatorship, I'm sure.

Oh wow - I suppose they abandon them in artful poses then :)

Back on topic - I'm going to keep my eye out - I'm a bit careless walking home late. I've had a few encounters that I've just dismissed but maybe I was lucky.

This is horrendous - when did this happen?

    • In just two days, we’ll take to the streets to show Donald Trump that he and his politics are not welcome here. On Saturday the global far-right mobilised their biggest protest for decades. We want to show that supporters of Trump and fascism are not the majority – far from it. Here are all the details you need for the day. The march assembles at Portland Place, near the BBC, at 2pm (see assembly blocs below). After speeches here, the march will move off at 3pm. It will then march down Regent St, through Piccadilly Circus, on Whitehall (past Downing St) to our rally at Parliament Square. The rally at Parliament Square will begin around 5pm and finish at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! (Nearest tube: Westminster). The short, accessible version of the route assembles at the top of Whitehall (SW1A 2DY) at 4.30pm to march to Parliament Square for 5pm. You may also prefer to just join the rally directly at Parliament Square.  Join a bloc – and make friends! Our movement is diverse, and various elements are forming ‘blocs’ on the march to emphasise their visual presence collectively. You can join these blocs or form up behind them:   A) Palestine, near BBC, W1A 1AA B) Climate, W1B 1NS C) Amnesty, around junction with New Cavendish St, W1B 1LU D) Migrants' rights, W1B 1LS E) Jewish bloc, W1B 1QQ F) Ukraine, around junction with Weymouth St, W1B 1JL G) Europe, W1B 1NR More stewards still needed Stewards are a crucial part of keeping the protest safe for everyone to participate. They are a visible point of contact for attendees who may need directions or other assistance. Experience of stewarding is useful but it's also fine if you haven't done it before. You will be issued with a hi-vis jacket and briefed in advance and on the day.  Sign up to be a steward Staying comfortable on the day The demonstration lasts for several hours, so we suggest you should:     Bring a bottle of water and snacks (and eat beforehand)     Charge your phone fully the night before, and bring a portable charger if you can     Go to the loo beforehand (really!)     Buddy up with someone, or stick together as a group – it can be hard to find people easily if people wander off     Coming alone? Protests can be a great place to meet like-minded people. If you feel unsure, you can always talk to a steward     Consider the weather: bring a waterproof jacket or wear suncream where necessary     Wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and use our accessible route if you need to (see above) Bring your friends and family on Wednesday. Let’s make this massive! In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
