Hi There,

Yesterday I discovered that I'm pregnant with twins :) got a bit panic with the double world idea. I had plan for a single pushchair but now everything has changed.

Could you please let me know which better option of pushchair have you found for twins. I'm a bit lost.

Also did you keep both babies in same room or separately?

Thanks a lot

Emmy

Hi Emmy

Try not to panic - we have twins and it is amazing. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Getting your head around the equipment is very daunting at first. The Twins Store or Twins Uk are very good at giving advice. We have the Mountain Buggy Urban Duo which we are very happy with. It is very heavy indeed but it is all terrain and pretty solid. Width of your hallway may determine whether you get a side by side or one up front and one behind style. You can get in most shops with the side by side and we had a double carryoot that fitted on for the first 6 months so it was like a pram - not necessary but I liked being able to see them.

We kept the babies together for several months until 1 woke the other up when we would separate them during the night. Since they were 1 year old they sleep together again which means there are lots of giggles in the morning rather than lonely 'pick me up' cries.

We also kept our twin girls in the same room together - found that they could sleep soundly through the other ones crying! From memory they did not move into separate rooms until they were about 7 years old- agree with Spooner that keeping them together meant they kept each other amused - one of the many many benefits of having twins. Can't advise on pushchairs - there were only juggernauts available in my day!

Congratulations on your fantastic news get in touch with the Dulwich and District Twins Club - they have great nearly new sales - invaluable when you are having to buy two of everything - and also a great source of support from people who understand what you are going through!

Congratulations! We've had lots of fun with our three year old twin boys, and I'd definitely recommend it!

We chose the BabyJogger City Mini Double, which is relatively narrow, light and packed easily into our saloon car (and even more easily in the people carrier we now have).

I'd second the recommendation to get in touch with the local twins club. They've recently won a lottery grant to produce information for parents of twins, and have held some very useful free sessions as part of that.

All the best with your journey into twindom.

Rob

congratulations! i've got twins and found the local twins club brilliant: http://ddtwinsclub.org/new/

i started with a maclaren side by side as it's not wide, folds up in the umbrella style and whilst they were still babies the wheels to weight ratio didn't matter.

then, once my back needed a little help i got a phil and teds side by side which i loved as it was so easy to push.

both bought on ebay.

twins club members are often selling double buggies so it's worth getting in touch.

again congratulations x

oh and same room through out, but that was more an issue of space.

they certainly didn't wake each other up but i never quite believed it at the time and used to run up in case they woke their brother up... it's quite amazing when you have a baby crying in your arms and yet you look down and there is the other twin fast asleep. the irony being that earlier that evening you probably didn't dare make the slightest noise in case you woke them!

The bass is making the windows vibrate but it's not 'noisy' I've always said the loud music is the least of the issues to me. It's the construction for two weeks before / one week after, the imposing steel wall, the trodden in non-decomposing litter (fag butts, cable ties, vapes, bottle tops, ring pulls) which will cover the entire site forever, the compaction & damage to the grass which takes months to recover, the impact on birds, bats & wildlife of 24/7 lights, the anti social behaviour of so many attendees (p***ing on the streets and in the bushes) and this year the blatant extending of the site footprint, despite previously giving the reason they can't move it is because it's been designed for that location. And hopefully everyone can see this for what it really is - an attempt to win over the local community and set a precedent for four festival days, so that they have a stronger argument when they put in an application for six days again next year.  Southwark state that the money from Gala goes directly to supporting their Events dept, who support "up to 100 free events every year". So what are these free events, and why do we need another?
