Guilty. I do that. I know it's wrong. But if I'm on the go and I need to text then I need to find my glasses in my handbag and faff around with my phone and it'll just take a nano-second to phone and relay the same information. So I'll concede that it's rude to reply to a text with a call; but I'm guilty as charged. Shoot me. If you texted me "how are you" though I probably wouldn't call you any time soon.

Hate texting... I can't see what I'm sending or understand the reply because I insist on wearing 1.5's when I really need 2's and I've got fingers like Cumberlands.

Can't stand the phone because it makes me think too fast and I speak rubbish.

Love emails because I can edit and I feel better looking

Anyone sitting next to me, anywhere and for any reason, and sending a text would not annoy me or leave me wanting to turn to them and scream "Will you please just shut the fuck up!"

"Yeah,.... no.... no.... no, still on the train.... yeah.... about five minutes?.... yeah.... really!?.... oh, shall I pick anything up... what?... WHAT?... oh, the plain ones?... no... okay...no fine.... yeah I suppose... okay... see you in about three minutes then... bye"

*Altho yep, I h8 txt-spk 2, take a prvrse delite in rytin hole wrds*

I don't mind a brief text convo IF it's not appropriate to actually talk with that person, because they're at work.

But my pet hate is those stupid round robin e-mails with a-cat-in-sunglasses and 100's of people copied in. Even my own sister sends me those. Jeez, I HATE THEM.

Actually thinking about it : I DO like the "You've had an accident and are due compensation" texts. I usually text them back with something like "F*ck off you ambulance chasing parasites and get stuffed while you're at it"

It makes my day.

NETTE:-S

My son must like texts. He sent me the longest one I've ever received this morning. It was explaining why he didn't do well in an exam and how unlucky he was with the questions. I don't think he could have put it any better if he had phoned me nor could I have understood just how unlucky he was. Texts have their uses. He was very very unlucky. PM for details.

A friend sent this email today...

You know how irritating mobile phone users are when they fail to exercise discretion and think the world needs to know their business? When you have enjoyed as much as you can stand you can now get you own back!!!

enjoy!!!

After a busy day he settled down in his train from Waterloo for a nap as far as his destination at Winchester , when the chap sitting near him hauled out his mobile and started up:- "Hi darling it's Peter, I'm on the train - yes, I know it's the 6.30 not the 4.30 but I had a long meeting - no, not with that floozie from the typing pool, with the boss no darling you're the only one in my life - yes, I'm sure, cross my heart" etc., etc. This was still going on at Wimbledon , when the young woman opposite, driven beyond endurance, yelled at the top of her voice,

"Hey, Peter, turn that bloody phone off and come back to bed!!"

Jeremy, Strafer - genuinely shocked at your grumpiness. Don't call me unless it's life or death? Wow.

What about a catchup, or just a chat, with someone you don't get to see often? I'm not defending 'Hi, I'm on the 6.48' calls - that's what texts are for! - but, but, but... no conversations? No how are you?

If I'm honest, it had better be an important death as well

Objectively I agree with you Moos - an in theory I quite like a phone call from someone I don't see often

But in practice, especially with mobile phones, the number of times people do call and I'm with someone else,it just seems rude to tell the person who has bothered to meet face to face to hang on.

A text to say "been a while we should catch up" is just a better way to lead in I think

Only with my wife or my mother. Otherwise I find it kind of irritating as it generally stops me doing what I really wanted to do.

Maybe I should remind you that I work in IT...

Now don't get me started on people who answer the phone when you're talking to them face to face! Grrrr.

*Strafer and Jez in Oh me Miss, charming miss, not me Miss shocker. If my eyes were rolling any harder I'd be Eagle Eye Action Man*

Still, good to see a man who loves his mother.

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
    • Dawson Heights again  2 lifts out of order at ladlands block Christmas Eve so of course the 🛗 will not be repaired tomorrow Christmas Day or Boxing Day or when how do elderly or mothers with children and prams and food and presents get to the floors and with the 10 minutes you get to drop off  to park and not get a Pcn fine and delivery food to relatives who can’t leave their house unbelievable Southern housing does any know email address of Coe of southern housing
    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
