I'm getting my new sofa here:

A Stella if anyone is interested.

I went down to the warehouse a couple of Sundays ago for a recce to check out the quality and such. Nice people and comfy sofas and the place was packed out. Given it has no passing traffic so it's a destination shop only, I was impressed to find it so full.

We have an M&S sofa, it's very comfy and the construction is solid. The designs aren't exactly cutting edge, but there's a decent selection of styles and fabrics. The delivery men were very good too, they managed to get it in through the front sash window!

I used to have a crappy one from DSF/Courts/Land Of Leather/whatever, the carcass was made from chipboard held together with glue and staples. The M&S one has a solid wood frame and seems very sturdy.

I have bought all my sofas / armchairs from sofa workshop. They sometimes have very generous sales - my sofas I got on buy one get one free, the quality is good and they have a fair range of price points so there's something for most people.

The online range is usually cheaper (you get a more limited choice of fabrics) though they usually have those models in the shop so you can see them in the flesh (so to speak!). I need to know a sofa is comfy before buying and ended up buying something completely different to what I was planning last time round once I'd tested a few. Looking at the prices, it would probably still be top end of your budget but I still think they are pretty good value for money.

The branch on Tottenham Court Road were helpful when I was last buying armchairs.

Highly recommend Sofas and Stuff

Went to their Parsons Green showroom and they were very helpful. A huge range of sofas on display. Got 10% off my order and delivery in a month. Delivery men were great, took all the packaging away and made sure the sofa and chair were exactly where I wanted them

    • Interesting, because I've been going throughout the past few years with different sets of kids and the parents i'm with have always said it's cold. Also spoke to a couple in passing the past weekend and one even said that's why she never brings her 18 month old because it's too cold. Thanks for your feedback. Maybe it's the room temperature that's throwing me off. But the showers are way definitely way warmer than the pool itself.

They printed label and custom form from a QR code and all good, present has arrived, and there was no queue. ETA Actually the main reason I posted this is to reassure those who are put off sending gifts to the US because of all the tariff business, like I was, that it is very straightforward
