yup, as Sue says, plans are indeed afoot for a Crystal Palace Road street party - but probably not on the day of the the Jubilee

Some reasons why

- the day of the Jubilee day is very early in the year, so high risk of cold weather/rain (like last year's ultra-sodden Big Lunch)

- the Jubilee is being marked by extra Bank holidays, so high risk of low attendance as lots of people will be going away (like at last year's sparsely attended Big Lunch)

- and last but not least, the republican spirit seems to burn bright in the breasts of the Crystal Palace Road Street Party Organizing Committee (or CPRSPOC to those in the know)

Anyway, we are waiting to hear from Southwark if they'll let us close the road for free later in the year.

KK, PM me if you need info about getting permission.

East Dulwich is holding street parties:

Sunday 3 June - Nutfield Road, Ulverscroft Road

Monday 4 June - Henslowe Road, Goodrich Road, Derwent Grove, Archdale Road.

Tuesday 5 June - Worlingham Road & Ryedale

For fuller details see attached.

For those that don't live on one of these streets you might want to to join in with the Diamond Jubilee Picnic in Dulwich PArk Tuesday 5 June.

    • Fired Earth as a whole went into administration unfortunately - doesn't seem to have been a Dulwich problem specifically. Does anyone know how much the rent is for these Dulwich Village storefronts?
    • It is most likely gas, with what looks like a stop cock, and although the pipe may well have been isolated later from the supply you should get in a gas safe engineer to remove it. At worst it might need to be capped off beneath the floor boards. Don't interfere with it yourself.
    • Sorry, I know this isn't strictly an East Dulwich topic but as there are so many late-Victorian properties in the area I wondered if anyone has seen anything similar in their house and can advise. We have what looks like an old gas outlet on the back wall of our daughter's bedroom which we'd like to remove, but we weren't sure whether it's safe to do so. Do I just call a registered gas engineer to check it out? And is it definitely a gas outlet or might it be something else? It's at floor level so maybe electricity but it doesn't look like any electricity outlet I've ever seen! Has anyone had any experience of dealing with something similar?
