Nero
Bananas, yoghurt, fluid (water) and dry toast. Once you feel better, try a clear soup, or chicken broth. Avoid alcohol and anything oily. trinity
Advice given to me for unwell toddler with the same symptoms was - bananas, boiled rice, no dairy, fluids. Be very strict and it will clear in 48 hours - just in time for Christmas. By the way, the advice worked for us. benjaminty
flat coca cola!!!!!!! As recommended by my GP a few years ago .... works a treat! :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2232-unwell/#findComment-64508 Share on other sites
spadetownboy
flat coke, bananas, rice,no diary products etc all old wives tales, for d&v the best and quickest cure is nothing but clear fluids ie water and soluble paracetamol and then be prepared to let it run its course anything from 24 to 72 hrs is usually the norm,if it goes on longer than that you would want to be seeing the gp as its likely that its caused by something a bit more than the usual gastroenteritis. benjaminty
Can assure you that flat coke is not an old wives tale.... It helped me get on a plane to Morocco a few years back when flying was positively the last thing I wanted to be doing at the time.Agreed though - GP is a must by the sounds of it. SimonM
Disagree. Bananas are a quick potassium-replacement fix - your K levels can get dangerously low if you are spewing at both ends...Flat coke is sugar and fluid, also a good idea Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2232-unwell/#findComment-64583 Share on other sites
Nero
Spadetownboy, You need salts at the very least to be replaced, and bananas and flat cola can do that, though a rehydration salt is better. Also, you need fuel, so anything bland like banana, a cracker, dry toast, a bit of rice all help, but I agree, you often feel like it will make you worse. Don't underestimate the effect it can have on you if you have been spewing and squitting for some time. Don't go and tire out your body by trying to get back on the merry go round too quickly.
