back in the distant past..

"@kk - you should try Buddha Jazz (terrible name I know) on Grove lane, other side of dog kennel hill by the george. It's an eastern fusion place with thai, vietnamese & japanese. very friendly and jolly nice. Yeah SE5, but not very far away."

No hello neither, but then I think I knew 5 out of 8* people on it at the time ;)

*That's actual numbers rather than a fraction ;-)

ever since they did that song with Timmmaayyyyyy on South Park..... possibly

Jan 07 - was this really my first post?

"Interesting idea.. plenty of different opinions on here to make it lively. Technically we should go the the Best Bar and then on for some food at the Best Indian Restaurant - but I suspect we would never agree

For what it's worth my vote for a meeting place would be Liqourish"

No wonder Keef never spoke to me - then again Liqourish was about to hit a steep decline (although another visit last weekend suggests recent improvements are still in place)

    • We are talking about Lambeth Council, not Southwark, but I agree. It will be interesting to see if Lambeth fill part of that space with another hire out to a private events company.  As to the idea that what is gained financially from hiring out Peckham Rye Park is a good trade off, does not account for long-term damage to the park and the loss of access to the community for a month at least, in the best summer months where trees and shrubs are in full bloom and animals are birthing or rearing youngsters. For the Council to claim they are 'green' when they allow this is hypocrisy at its finest.
    • Regarding Gala fees: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/280615/GALA-2024-and-one-stage-shows-stakeholder-consultation-findings-report.pdf‘ ‘’The decision to host large/major-scale commercial (ticketed) events in Southwark was taken in 2017, deemed necessary in order to raise enough revenue to offset the running costs of the Events service, which supports the delivery of 50+ outdoor community events per year, and in order to continue to fund a range of high quality, free events across Southwark through the Cultural Celebrations Fund grants programme.’’
    • Sorry, not having a dig at Southwark for that.   I'm just shocked that next door they've chosen to abandon such an institutional community / family event so they can keep pumping out commercial stuff instead.   I suppose the same could happen here next although we don't really have any longstanding family events like that one.
    • No doubt the schools in Harrogate are being discussed on the East Harrogate Forum or whatever. Dulwich College is being discussed because it's local. Saying "ooh, there were loads of schools mentioned" is a bit dismissive. It was Dulwich College that referred sex abuse allegations about pupils to the police and Dulwich College that used the spectre of the police to suppress dissent. 🤔
