Avoided doing work by posting on here :))

Sadly I didnt manage to avoid working ALL day... spent the first hour at work working solidly on event messages. Felt like I was typing out lines "Kel must b a good girl. Kel must b a good girl. Kel MUST b a good girl" ;-)

Not enough perhaps - although given the baby's 'sleep = fail' attitude I think I can count waking up and getting to work on time as an achievement. What else though? Hmm... I have successfully refrained from buying unnecessary crap at lunchtime; attended a union meeting on pay negotiations, made my feelings known and cast my votes on various motions; identified a fifth introductory essay to commission for the next edition of the book wot i editt; issued guidance to freelancers; procrastinated and posted rubbish on the internet.

Got up EARLY,

Got the train to the New Forest,

Gossiped with colleague all the way

Meeting in New Milton

Froze my parts off on New Milton station

Train back - long journey

Used time to compose a highly amusing and lengthy email

Sent email

Battery on laptop died

Got home

Read replying email reminding me that some people have work to do

Did work I should have done on the train

  • 1 month later...

Had to resurrect this thread to say I painted my front door today!

I've been meaning to do it for ages and now I'm really pleased with myself, but MrJ is out so I had no-one to share my satisfaction with.

Mind you, it's come out a funny colour, nothing like the picture on the tin. Oh well.

I didn't change the course of history, I didn't make a fortune on the stock exchnge, but I did add to the the numbers of sad gits commuting in and out of London Bridge to go to an office and do 7.25 hours of mind numbingly boring work. What a mark I've made on the world!!!!:(
London Bridge is by far the worst of all of the bridges to cross as part of the commute - sooo many people it really does make one feel like an automaton. I'm lucky in that I'm now by Blackfriars bridge which is much more sedate by comparison. The hours of tedium however remain the same.....
Darn I wish I had me glasses on 2day I really didn't read that as "paint job"... altho saying that I may also be still thinking of the office convo just taken place about solid plastic rubber johnnys and the lack of stimulation for both parties... my achievement? Corruption of innocent young girls! :))

    • A quick update - my InPost parcels are being accepted sporadically at Barry's, but only one at a time and every few days, after many refusals - one was refused SEVEN times over about ten days - and several phone calls. As a comparison, I had a message from Yodel that a parcel that was going to Barry's is being delivered to another nearby store, which is interesting...
    • The "Community Benefits" are documented on P12-16 of the Consultation Document. Basically unsubstantiated estimates that it benefits local businesses, claims that it provides "opportunities" for local food traders, businesses & people (the term "opportunities" being meaningless - I have opportunities to win the lottery) without any details, facts or figures, and discounted tickets for local residents (which unsurprisingly seldom sell out). The only direct financial benefit to the Park is a £1000 "Biodiversity Fund" and an undisclosed amount for an "Environmental Impact Fee" - looking at how it was spent this year (flower beds in the playground & Sexby garden) I suspect it would be a similarly small figure. The actual site hire fee - claimed as "commercially sensitive" and therefore undisclosed - is spent on: • Funding the council’s free events programme and Cultural Celebrations Fund • Subsidised fees for community events in the borough • Off-setting the running costs of the Events service, which supports the delivery of the free community events programme  Again, no details given, just vague concepts - can anyone name any of these free & subsidised community events? Or what the "Cultural Celebrations Fund" is or does? It doesn't really sound like any of it is worth  the disturbance, restrictions, noise, litter, environmental damage and negative impact on wildlife in our Park.
    • The organisers must have spent a fortune on the display..imagine how p**s*d off they must have been!!!! Blink and you missed it kind of thing
    • We also recommend Aaron.  Very reliable, reasonably priced and did a fantastic job on our hallway and bedroom ceiling.  A pleasure to work with and left the house very tidy at the end of the job.  Thank you
