Yup...but the ticket prices definitely aren't 2001..its a joke.

I bet they'll be offering ?30 all weekend ticket entry deals within a month when they realise no one will pay that to see such dated mediocre acts

I'm going to complain to the council about this event on the day, so the organisers are forced to turn the music down. The reason why is because I do not like any of the music on offer, and to get back the people who always moan and complain about the festival's on Peckham Rye Common.

Indeed. One can be a father, of a liberal and pro-EU political stance, who enjoys a nice hoppy beer... without having to listen to the MOR abominations of Toploader, Maroon 5, Razorlight, Ed Sheeran, M People, and Simply Red.

Although saying that, the cool-Dad-with-DJ-decks is almost as cringeworthy!

Loving all the knockers on here, there's a good reason why a festival with such a safe, bland, middle of the road line-up has pitched up in the area, it's because the demographic of the area is safe, bland, and middle of the road. It's a refection of who you are or what you've become once you signed those title deeds, a Faustian pact of mediocrity...

irregardless of the Festival snobbery, having a few beers in the park, with some bands to listen to and some good food - what's wrong with that?

I've had loads of fun, even if the music's not "all that".... the energy is usually fab and makes for a great day out.

I've only seen one band (Air) who were supposed to be brilliant and were utter rubbish and it didn't spoil a good day.

If you don't want to mix in, don't go.

This is all very disconcerting. One the scale of 'Toploader' at one end and 'owning decks' the other, I'm wondering where an SE22 fortysomething should ideally be positioning themselves.

Is it ok to use the Djay app (assuming you're not playing Toploader on it)?

Could the style gurus and influencers commenting above offer further clarification?

The License was granted with around 100 conditions attached to it. It has been granted for an initial year only to see if there are any issues.

I was a bit concerned when the P13 and P4 were given as the way people would get home. They hadn't checked; these are low frequency routes and single decker buses, both routes have cropped up on this forum due to their lack of capacity and infrequency!

The tower lights will be switched off 30 minutes after the event finishes. There are stringent noise controls and will be regular sound level checks at the closest properties. Litter picking will be done frequently. Vehicle movement will be on tracking to reduce risk of damage to the grass. There will be stewards at bus stops and directing people to the train stations.

The tickets do not cover food and drink. The emphasis of this festival is food, with Michelin starred chefs cooking and ?5 mini platters being available to sample their cooking. The alcohol and music are ancillary to the food. Tickets only include watching the food demos and the music.

They are conditioned not to use single use plastics (something that is being introduced with all new licenses and also applies to the Gala Festival), so it will probably involve paying a deposit for a reusable polycarbonate glass that you return and swap for a replacement one.

Jist joshin'. Plus think I have confused two distinct types here - proud centrist Dads and the Chipping Norton set. An ED dad is more Rayban than Oakley for sure. We recently left SE22 for warmer climes but if we were still around I'd probably go and yes, I'd prob take the kids too. As Jules-and-Boo says - not much wrong with some decent beer, music and food in your local park. And...this is Dulwich. It's what the area is about. Enjoy.

Ha. I was hoping I'd wind up a trendy-DJ-dad! Preferably one who likes to spin a few "choonz" to get things started when the dinner guests arrive.

It is not a genuine criticism of course, more a cheeky observation of social cliches (which most of us are to one extent or another).

    • It doesn't matter what channel it was on, how pernicious the subject is and when it happened. Mis-representing the truth in broadcast is not only morally wrong, it's against the OFCOM code of ethics.  Everyone in the industry is trained in how not to do it, most are made to take the BBC's own 'Safeguarding the Trust' course, even if they aren't making BBC programmes.  There wasn't much fuss at the time, because no one knew about it.  "Unless you hate Britain, hate liberals, hate the BBC, want a divided country, support the most powerful person in the world despite his many failings". What the programme makers personally think or feel should never affect how they tell a story; to do so is deeply unprofessional and a sackable offence.  It's the job of the BBC and of all programming to inform viewers of the facts and let them make up their own minds. Even in campaigning documentaries.
    • Hadn't realised that the Panorama programme that people are up in arms about was over a year ago.  There wasn't much fuss at the time so why drag it up.  Unless you hate Britain, hate liberals, hate the BBC, want a divided country, support the most powerful person in the world despite his many failings. The programme was clumsy, but the vast majority of us know that Trump had an influence.  So the Telegraph has played into his hands.
