There must be someone? It's quite hard to venture out without seeing someone who's been on the telly at some point. Surely these people don't just shop in Sainsbury's?

The famous, notorious or anyone who has been on the telly, ever, for any reason, might like to shop at the Co-op.

Although the Co-op is smaller, people in there might be more likely to be scrutinising the prices than in Sainsbury's, and hence less likely to gawp at you? Also, it's easier to escape from the Co-op, should the need arise.

Define 'famous' please as I haven't a clue as to who most of the ones spotted in Sainsbury's are/were. In fact as I am focussed more on getting in and out of there, be it Sainsb, Co-op, Waitrose, Lidl or wherever before my ice-cream & frozen petit pois turn to mush, it's unlikely that I'll contribute to the thread after this. Caveat: while stocking up on Sainsbury's 3 for ?12 wine recently, I nabbed the last pinot grigio before the woman next to me. Another shopper scowled disapprovingly and told me it was "(insert name)" from Eastenders. (But I guess this should be in "Famous people in Sainsburys"). So there you go. Blissfully clueless.
It would be useful to have a handy guide (like the Observer Book of British Birds) to help identify people who look very familiar but you can't name. It causes quite a lot of social anxiety when the famous are out shopping or walking their dogs and you can't place them and so don't know whether to say hello or not. Honor Oak Rec used to be particularly bad for this, it used to ruin our walks. In this context you tend to be thinking that it's someone's husband you met once, not the bloke from Star Wars. I need to apologise to the Man Who Reads the News for saying hello, how are you, half a dozen times, I wasn't stalking him, I thought I knew him from somewhere. He's terribly polite and never once told me to ****** off.
Well, where do I begin, he was completely blocked the cava fridge there and was grunting and dropping stuff he'd contaminated with his touch, it was most offputting . However the other day I did laugh when the staff there caught the ex male model turned junkie who strides up and down lordship lane looking for stuff to nick) shoving pork chops and chocolate down his half mast beige corduroys

I once saw Ray Mort eating in The Bishop - Ray is best known for his cameo role in Lovejoy. Couldn't believe he was just sat in the Bishop - he was obviously having a great evening and clearly splashing the cash.

I also once saw Jack Nicholson looking at vintage stools on North Cross market.

    • He/she followed me and my friends quite a long way along the road so we worried they might be out of their catchment area. Quite dusty paws which also made me think perhaps they’d been roaming away from home for a few days. Took photos in case anyone is missing them! Very pretty, friendly long-haired black and white cat, leopard print collar, pink paw-print metal tag. They eventually stopped following us across the road from Mrs Robinson.
    • I took it to mean that he was going to present all sides of the argument (for want of a better term) rather than just giving his own opinion. I didn't take it to mean that he was calling "his own views" balanced.
    • I just did this survey. There are a number of problems with it. For example, in at least two questions you have an option "other, please specify" but there is no way to specify what the "other" is. Also, you have several questions where if you have nothing appropriate to answer, you get a statement "this is a required question", or words to that effect, so you have to put in something like "nothing" in order to move on. Can I suggest that this is likely to confuse people so they just give up half way through? Maybe you should test it out on a few people before going "live" with it?
    • I went to Brockwell Lido on a hot day last summer to do some lengths. It was busy.  I kept getting other people's hair, which was floating around the pool, tangled in my hands. It was gross. I'm not sure if that was unusual, or if it's always like that on a hot day.
