There are phone apps for obtaining accurate bus running times, per bus stop, I use Bus Countdown, it tells me exactly how long before my bus will arrive so I can take alternate bus routes if necessary.

The 176 bus is fairly regular - why not get the previous scheduled bus ?

I thought this was a joke thread?

The only buses that appear on time are early in the morning (before 7am). Unfortunately, London has other traffic on the roads for most parts of the day and hence you get delays (surprise surprise).

As KidKruger said, there are internet and smartphone applications that let you know when the next bus will arrive. Just plan ahead a little ...

The best way is to text the number on the bus stop with the code for that actual bus stop.

I tried a few apps but never found them 100% but this always seems to be pretty accurate.

I text it before I leave the house as takes me 5 mins to walk there and then I don't waste time or miss my bus.

Let me down once when it said the first 37 was in about twenty five minutes time .... luckily I didn't do as another person at the same stop did who'd also looked via the app and start walking, as one actually turned up in about two minutes ....

But usually they're great. Bus time apps not the 37 obviously :)

People complain about the 176 being a tad late, I'd vote for the 197 which is probably the second worst bus in ED after the P13 for reliability. I waited 30 mins a couple of weeks ago for a bus from Peckham Bus Station on a Thursday afternoon. It's timetabled to be every 12 minutes.

    • Hello, My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD.  We are hoping to find a tutor who themselves was diagnosed with ADHD (prior to Alevels ideally) and received help with studies.   The subjects are physics and Economics A level (he's starting Y13). At  present we want to see if we can find a tutor with the diagnosis first and if that doesn't work, then someone who has experience helping kids with ADHD succeed.    If that doesnt work either, then 2 subject specific tutors.  Please do DM me if you can help, or give a pointer for a good direction!   Thanks!   MattH
    • There used to be a secondhand hifi & repair shop in the basement of where Love Dulwich Turkish BBQ & Meze Restaurant is at the moment.  I'm trying to find anyone who either remembers the name or even has contact details.  I'm trying to find someone who can do repairs on an old luxman, B&O, etc.  Keeping fingers crossed!

    • Have you considered PIV - positive input ventilation. We retro fitted a Soler & Palau super quiet in-line fan system. This takes cool air from the outside ans is ducted into the loft. It is really quiet and very efficient. It is controlled by a reverse thermostat ie one which shuts the system off when the temperature drops to a set level. We are very pleased with it especially as it costs a fraction of a/c and provides greater flexibility in terms of location of vents and ducting.
