The reason this thread has turned into name calling and ranting is because of Tiger Ranks comment - "who would think that of the new dulwich what will all the POSH TOFFS THINK".

What s/he has written is true and obviously the 'posh toffs' have taken offence. I have lived in East Dulwich for 32 years and believe me it's certainly the people that make it a pompus place to live. I recently found out that Lordship Lane is now known as 'The Lane' and if you live on Melbourne Grove you are known as referrred to as a 'Melbourne Grover' WTF.

No matter where you live there are criminal offences taking place East Duwlich, Peckham, Kensignton & Chelsea everywhere!!! I for one cannot wait to move out of East Dulwich - it has changed for the worse.

Clio731 - what a load of old bollox.

If people have their own ways of labelling things like streets or folks who live on streets it really is no big deal - it certainly doesn't mean you or anyone else is under pressure to subscribe to the same terminology !

I've heard the 'Grover' expression with other streets (groves) and it's more a play on 'Groover' than anything else, not something specific to East Dulwich.

We'd all love Dave The Butcher back (he'd fit in a treat I reckon) but those days are gone.

Sounds like you've got a right chip on your shoulder about the change in demographic (but perhaps not about increase in your property value, no - hold on, you sound poor, so it won't apply to you).

    • Hello. Did you hear any further on this? Was there anyone at the council who was helpful to speak to? I am in a similar boat.
    • Dear all, Bit of a random ask but in such a supportive and accepting community, I thought I'd see if anyone had time to help 🙂 I'm conducting research for my MSc Psychology dissertation, using a brief anonymous survey to explore romantic and polyamorous relationships and how/if attitudes around this interact with factors such a family history and family making. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 mins and has been approved by the University of Roehampton. I'm hoping to circulate the survey widely enough that the data gathered is representational of the diversity in modern society across various aspects that constitutes personal identity. Some of the questions are of a personal nature and others could be considered a bit 'spicy', but just to reiterate, this is an anonymous survey. • Sebastian has been missing for nearly 24 hours. This is very unlike him. He’s chipped so identifiable by a vet. Please don’t feed him if you find him - he’s greedy but has kidney disease so has a special diet
    • hi all just wondered does anyone know if any of the pharmacists in East Dulwich that are offering the hayfever jab?
