If I see ONE more "new cupcake company" offering its wares in E.D. i'll shove my fist through their sugar frosted teeth.

Really are we in need of furter "cupcake options-all events catered for" sprinkled with extra glitter, la la la.

Actually, I bet "her" Jam face over the road is baking/planning some right now, ready to give to me for Xmas.

Give me strength.

Okay I'll bite.

Whilst I see them at every fete, jamboree and fair in the neighbourhood, if someone were to ask me where they could buy an assortment of cupcakes I should open my mouth in a confident and yet scornful manner and yet find myself unable to direct them accordingly.

I assume the various bakeries do them, do they? Do the delis too?

STOP THIS CUPCAKE MADNESS

Quite aside from the total infantilisation of deliciousness (ladies, get your cupcake jewellery here, cupcake charm bracelets, necklaces, pyjamas; all the cupcake fun but none of the pesky calories with our fabulous knitted cupcakes - seriously, what the fuck?) THEY TASTE SHIT.

I hate cupcakes. I hate them. I do. I want to smash them to a million crumbs in their bland dry massive sponginess, topped with sickly day-glo icing, (not to mention glitter), the ratio of which is completely out of kilter with the enormocake-of-all-shitness. Fucking cupcakes.

I like a victoria sponge.

And now there's the evil little sister of the cupcake - the cake pop. It's a little round cake on a bloody wooden stick. Y'know, like a lollipop. Infantile crap for a culture that's addicted to superficial novelty and can't appreciate simple good food. They'll be all over ED this Xmas, mark my words...

Love cupcakes - can't see how you can make much money selling them though. The cupcake shop in CP closed down recently to concentrate on online sales - not surprised TBH, the place was often empty and seemed to be frequented only by students and 'home' workers who would buy a single cup of coffee - rarely a cupcake - and would sit hogging tables for hours on end jabbing away at their laptops.

We used to have rice crispie thingies which was basically melted chocolate and rice crispies in a paper thing which you can still get but I dont remember the name of. I've never had a cake in a cup. We always had cakes on a plate with a fork. Are cupcakes a sort of microsoft/apple war type of thing? Is there a definition of one? I once saw a reslly good movie about buttons. I expect there will be a cupcake one soon but way over my head.....LOL.........whatever that means

I like Bread Pudding but not fish flavoured.

From my memories book.

People are kind. I was putting on a new door one day , the lady of the house was cooking . She gave me a cup of tea, and asked if I liked bread pudding, I said I did and she gave me a large piece of newly cooked pudding. I took a bite out of it, it tasted a bit fishy so I did not eat it, and when she was not looking I threw it out onto the grass area in front of the house. The dog chased after it and brought it back, and dropped it at my feet just as the lady returned, I had to say that I had dropped it in the dirt.

I was to fit a new back door for her the next day, so I asked her if I could look at the old one to make sure that I brought the right type with me in the morning. As I passed through the kitchen, on the table were the remains of kippers and half eaten crusts from the bread. Perhaps this was the fishy taste to my bread pudding?

The next day as I worked, at ten o?clock, there was a cup of tea, and Yes, a black piece of bread pudding with shiny glass currants! How could I get out of eating this?

If I threw it the dog might bring it back, if I buried it, he might dig it up.

When I left the house I wondered whether the birds would have eaten it, or would it become exposed in the Autumn as the leaves fell revealing that piece of bread pudding nailed to the tree in the garden!

And y are you people so against the cupcake?

Just think of them as mini individual servings of cakes. Good for kids arent they?

Mayb the ones you have experienced were just not that nice?

They are just simple and pretty to serve.. I think they are quite nice for eg carrot cake cupcakes, lemon poppyseed.

As long as they are not overwelmed with buttercream.

Seriously is this even an argument? 😳

    • Re Day One, £52 for a short hair cut (cut & styling) and £72 for a long hair cut (cut & styling) which I believe is below the ears.  £38 for a blow dry which doesn’t appear to be included in the cut price as it’s not mentioned.  £15 for a fringe tidy.      I remember being startled to be charged separately for a blow dry by the salon that used to be in Melbourne Grove but is now closed down.  I was asked if I wanted a blow dry after the cut and highlights and said yes, but wasn’t told that I would be charged separately.  Only found out when I went to pay the bill.    Was offered a voucher on a further appointment.    De.Salon which used to be Cut-Throat in Peckham (Choumert Rd and Brixton) charge from £45 for a Short haircut that finishes by the ears.  They charge from £40 for any haircut that finishes below the jawline.  Their prices include a blow dry.  But if you have thick hair they charge an extra £15 for every additional 15 minutes for cutting.     I had my hair cut there before the name change.  I don’t understand the from part of the price. Had a look at the Blue Tit pricing which is very complicated. They charge depending on the stylist’s  experience.  Crab Salad in Peckham  -  short hair cut above the ear - from £69.    Long hair Cut below the ear from £80. Blow dry not mentioned as being included in the cut but is priced at £55 I noticed that Kuki charge different prices for men and women.  Doesn’t seem right if a woman has short hair and a man has long hair.   I used to go to a great salon in NW London  that charged the same price for men and women and stopped going when they upped their prices for women.
