Yes, I know that a ban has been imposed on the forum re pets for sale. I dont agree with it, but can understand admin doing this at the very least for an easy life - IIRC, it was on the basis of a well fail poll and a Christian Voice style assault by a blinkered minority of slightly unhinged social inadequates. IMHO blates innit.

Now its in place, I am assuming ED is now a sanctuary for pets and the scourge of people selling live things has been banished forever - what else should be banned from the forum ?

mostly Genuine question BTW, disparaging broad brushstrokes aside

Serious "ideal world" answer: nothing that is legal should be banned, obvs.

Semi-serious answer: I would ban businesses being able to ban discussion of themselves. BUT also, anyone persistently behaving like an outright cock towards a business (The now deleted Begging Bowl thread was a prime eg) would likewise be banned and the business in question sent a picture of that poster's severed head in a box, as recompense.

Point of order, would pimping not be the hiring out of prostitutes? The hirers are not the pimps, I think.

Strictly speaking animal sales aren't banned "Animals can only be sold if there's a link to them listed another reputable website."

Hopefully it's a compromise between the fundamental animalist types who want no one to sell animals full-stop and those careful ones who want to sell animals that they've cared for. By making sure they have the animals listed on reputable site means they've gone to the trouble of doing it properly and not just got their Staffie up the duff to make a few quid to buy more Berkeleys and Special Brew.

    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.

    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?
