Only got the first album Captain which I really liked. Recent purchases though have been Martha Wainwright, Joan As Policewoman, Bat For Lashes, a couple of old Kraftwerk albums, a King Tubby boxset and Alternatively Deep by Roots Manuva. And they're all excellent.

Marriage, that's where it all starts MP, it's a slippy slope from there on in. The last staw was when my then 1 year old started picking them up and chucking them on the floor, causing boxes to smash etc! Storage space is also at a bit of a premium now.

It helps that I'm not too much of an audiophile and can happily listen to an MP3 ripped at 128kbps and not worry that I can't hear Ringo coughing during the bridge.

Just got back to ED with three new - vinyl - albums.

One was a birthday present, IQ6 Zang Tumb Tuum Sampled. I have it on tape from the olden days, but wanted the vinyl - it's never been issued on digital formats. Possibly one of the best label compilations ever.

The other two were picked up in Oxfam for a few pee: Welcome to the Pleasuredome (ZTT IQ1!), and Penthouse & Pavement (which got a mention on Radio 4 today). As you can see, I have a thing about ZTT (but also about 4AD, Sarah, etc etc)

The new compilation from Colette in Paris (Vol.8).

My sound of summer - and available on acquisition for those who are in the know....

Also, for anyone who loves a vibrant mix of music, pls look online for FIP radio in france. You can download a link which opens and streams through iTunes (win & Mac). Amazing.

Todays listening / purchases (yeah I know what I said F&B, but man can not live on back catalogue alone):

Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies (that bloke off The New Pornographers' side project. Top stuff)

Taken By Trees - Open Field (that lass that left The Concretes new band. Delicate and beautiful)

brought a tear to my eye there captain.

Well things from bad to worse with the havoc bro-in-law to be has played.

I've just had to suffer Guns'n'Roses cover of Sympathy for the Devil. Stick to the day job guys.

Luckily Smog - I Feel Like the Mother of the World came on, and I'm happy again.

    • I'm glad you are making good use of your car, but bemused how you are saving on petrol by only half filling every 3-4 weeks? Unless this prevents you using the car as often as you would like, surely you would use just the same amount of petrol, and spend the same amount of money, if you filled it up completely every 6 - 8 weeks? Have I missed something here?

    • Would Leon install a new double oven? Our eye level double oven was installed when we had our kitchen installed around 20 years ago and will need to be replaced with similar. I think we had 2 people to install it then - so does Leon work alone?
    • My car was registered in 2004. Automatic, ULEZ compatible.  Used to use it daily for work until 2016 when retired. Still used 3-5 days weekly after that as was doing voluntary work. My mobility has gradually declined and  it is painful to walk.. Family live in Kent, Essex and Sussex - so need car to visit them. My car battery is 2 years old - when had to call out RAC to assist at home as it was dead, they found it was the original battery installed in 2004!! My car is essential - shopping each week, being able to go to garden centres, or DIY stores, taking the cat to the vet and  other social activities. I now only half fill with petrol every 3- 4 weeks, so save that way. I am careful  with my finances and would be lost without the car. It is regularly maintained (Turners).
