???? How can this be a warning??? It hasn't even opened yet?!

if you think that's harsh, wait till Snorky finds out about the restaurant's fleet of branded minis.

I thought that HonaloochieB's post was pretty funny (and assumed that it was intended to be so)

*bursts in breathless with excitement, beaming and full of fresh juicy gossip*

Iknowiknowiknowiknowiknowiknowiknow!

I just ambushed the new owners as they were leaving on their matching scooters (ah, cute)

It's going to be *drum roll* an independent Italian serving home-cooked food with their own pasta and bread made on the premises. Opening in 7 weeks.

I'll certainly give them a try when they open.

Well it'll be almost impossible to keep me away from the place. I've just thrown a brick with a note wrapped round it over the hoarding beggingfor a table on the opening night.

And if they're willing to flog me a table I might have some of their fancy bread an' all.

I have to disagree Sean - I've only been the once but I thought the food was excellent... if the food in this new place is anywhere near as good it will be a great addition to the ED area... Obviously this is just my opinion!

not just your opinion Ally - most people on here seem to love Si Mangia so It's me in the minority. But having tried 3 different Italian staples I can't believe people haven't had better examples elsewhere.

A ragu sauce should be deep, dark and meaty whereas I found theirs light and overly sweet. Which people may prefer but I doubt many Italians genuinely favour the latter

Maybe I've been unlucky - another trip to Si Mangia for me then...

Go to the city airport

Jump on a cheap flight to rome

Try to find a restaurant that serves only OK food

See you in about two years

The pizzas in rome are thin, light, crispy, and delicious everywhere.

We should rename whatever it is they serve up here masquerading under the name of pizza.

Alternatively, go to Grissini on Abbeville Rd, Clapham. Probably the best Italian grub in Saaarf London. Having said that though I love Si Mangia too!

I agree with SeanMacGabhann, I think Si Mangia is OK, but the food is nothing that special in my opinion. I had a pasta dish too, and found the sauce was rather bland... in fact I prefer my own homemade sauce. Maybe it's just ignorance on my part, but if that is the case, so be it!

    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
    • Dawson Heights again  2 lifts out of order at ladlands block Christmas Eve so of course the 🛗 will not be repaired tomorrow Christmas Day or Boxing Day or when how do elderly or mothers with children and prams and food and presents get to the floors and with the 10 minutes you get to drop off  to park and not get a Pcn fine and delivery food to relatives who can’t leave their house unbelievable Southern housing does any know email address of Coe of southern housing
    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
    • Sorry Sue - me again. This has been on my mind all day, it's a big bug bear of mine. If you don't mind - please can you private message me some of these shops so I can cross reference / add to my AVOID list.  Thanks in advance. Let's make sure this doesn't happen this Christmas, particularly as we head into sales season. Even more problematic in my experience.
