Hi

The drinks happen once a month in a different pub each months. They usually start about 8pm and people drift in all evening. The next one, as Sue said, is on 4th April at the CPT on Crystal Palace Road. Threads about the drinks are usually hidden in The Lounge, so sometimes get missed by new posters who don't routinely look in there. Have a look for details of this months drinks, but be warned once you venture into the Lounge you may never want to leave.

It's always a really fun night and very friendly. Hopefully see you there.

As Annaj says a few early starters at 8pm and then people drift in for a while - although after about 10:30 some people don't so much drift as "arrive" ;-)

usually manages to be about 20-30 of us with maybe 4 or 5 first timers each time so you should feel right at home

the CPT is where I went to my first forum drinks too so it has happy memories above and beyond being a pub I already like

both really, but generally once you've said hi i'm piers but real name is piers, people will stick to the real one.

Though everyone seems to still then call me mockney :(

Some people are happy to be more or less interchangeable.

It gets really complicated if you know people through flickr though.

Last time I brought along some sticky labels and marker pens, so you can choose any name you like but I would choose one you

(A) like to hear, and

(B) you like to be called by,

Cwald is affectionately called 'chav' but last time she called herself 'fear and' something maybe boozin'.

Looking forward to seeing you and everyone else who reads this 'hard sell' on the 4th @ Crystal Palace Tavern on the corner of whately rd and Crystal Palace rd.

    • hah ha! On the subject of dodgy keys and also police protocol with stolen cars, my first car was a 1969 mini which you could open and start by wiggling a small flat-headed screwdriver. No wonder it was stolen. About a week later the police called to say they'd spotted it on the Dog Kennel Hill estate opposite East Dulwich station. In those days parking was free so at least I didn't receive any tickets, but I surprised the police just left a message with the address and expected me to go and pick it up. I was slightly worried I'd have to tackle the culprits myself when I arrived.
    • Great pub, great deals and great service! Food is second to none Highly recommend 👌
    • This thread is brilliant! I am glad it has a happy ending. The reference to the Punto keys reminds of the days of when you could "jiggle a lock" with a similar car key and I speak from painful memory as a kid I managed to lock the keys in our car whilst on a camping holiday in Spain. My mum and dad didn't speak much Spanish and much hilarity ensued (post event) as they tried to communicate to the driver of a similar make and model of car as to why they had flagged him down and were trying to get him to lend him the key from his ignition!
    • I highly recommend my painter and decorator Sean. I have used him for over 25years. He is reliable and charges a reasonable price.  you can contact him on 07572 779608
