The cafe on pellet road, cafe on rye (I think)has t shirts and other printed stuff very peckham based. Some lovely stuff there.

There's a great childrens book on London if that is appropriate.

I have also found the maritime museum, shop, has really great gifts for both children and adults.

There is also that little shop (Bellenden Road) towards the scout hall, (not on the strip where kuki hair etc is but the other way if that makes sense) that sells interesting gifts, cushion covers, tea towels, jewellery etc. I have found some interesting bits here for presents to send abroad. However they have quite odd opening hours!
That is not quite true about not taking any food. If it is commercially prepared and sealed it should be fine, chocolates, biscuits (not sure if there is anything about being in a tin that might be a problem going through a scanning machine or having an issue with the seal?), sweets are all ok. Homemade would be a problem though, and YOU MUST DECLARE. You will cause a problem for yourself if you don't as they scan most bags on the way into the country. They check wood items, I would think most children's toys sold in the UK would be fine, especially if they are brand new with all labels on them, once again you have to declare (a homemade wooden carved toy might be a problem as they would not know the provenance).

Just watch a few episodes of Nothing to Declare and you should be fine.

Border agents shout "THIS IS FOOOUUUUD" at small south east asian ladies whilst pointing at shrivlled indetermintate masses crawling in unidentified creepy crawlies.

Repetitive but compulsive viewing and good prep for getting through the border

    • Why is everyone so reluctant to accept that there was an incident which needed five vans?
    • Saw sand on the floor of the medium lane in the pool yesterday (Friday 24th).   How does it get there? I thought that was the indicator the filters have a problem. The water itself seemed clean and clear.
    • It may also have been a "regroup" where the TSG move to another location to muster in case they are needed....a "regroup" may also be used when they are, ahem, hungry and need to get to a feeding station. The old East Dulwich police station used to be a feeding and watering hole and was often used as such and mobile units would rush there at feeding time!
    • I am doing an art course. If anyone has any large canvases (used or unused, A1 size or larger), I would be happy to take them off your hands if free or cheap! Sorry but not painted with oil, as I am mainly using acrylics and collage, and oil underneath would not work. Please PM if you have anything suitable! Thanks!
