4X4s in East Dulwich's tiny streets are just a complete waste of time. Whenever two meet all the normal sized cars have to wait while they do temporary one way working. I really don't see the Utility in these so called Utility Vehicles. They should be banned from the Roads during normal working hours like Caravans. Then we could all travel around much faster.

Oh, Mr Carnell - is this thing yours? Oops, sorry, I drove into it in Sainsbury's in my volvo and left a dent. I left a note underneath your gun turret.

[rant]

The real problem with 4x4's is that the people that buy them do not know how to Drive them..

Whereas in most situations 2 normal sized cars can pass with a little bit of care...

...4x4 drivers do not seem to realise that they are the problem when coming face to face with on coming vehicles.

They need to hold back (Show Courtesy) as in most cases they seem incapable of reversing out of the situation.

..OR.... too stubborn to do so..

[/end_rant]

I'm thinking of getting a bigger 4x4 than my current one because of a minority of dickheads who drive normal cars in East Dulwich thinking there is enough room for our two vehicles to pass each at the same time, forcing me to slow down and sometimes even stop.

I think a bigger 4x4 is now needed to get these people to realise they need to pullover and allow me to pass unhindered.

I don't know what gun turret means to you Rosie H, but to the rest of us sometimes a gun turret is just a gun turret you know. I'm having one put on my house, to take out all the people who don't clean up after their dogs.

In my fantasy 4x4 mayhem dream

I'm targeting the Dub numb nuts duo, then i'd head up to Foxy's to mash up his lair, then full on to ted - reversing clean over him in Low-4 setting.

I'd then spray myself with Joe Malone & plop on the floor of Costa's

Of course i'm completely naked whilst doing all this.

Heh, if only. No, I am being very responsible with the sofa, unlike how I would be in a 4x4, when I jump in Annette's passenger seat Sissy Spacek-style and we go on a killing spree.

That said, if I saw Annette cycling along the pavement, she'd probably get it too!

    • Gosh, that all sounds so familiar!  Southwark are constantly holding up their Outdoor Events Policy as proof of process, but then constantly allow exceptions when things aren't quite done correctly. Point in case, Gala's licence application - extract from the Consultation Findings Report - "The GALA team formally submitted their application to hold GALA 2025 to the council on the 7 October 2024. It is usually a requirement that applications for larger scale events are submitted with a minimum of 9 months to process them, but discretion can be applied if there are mitigating circumstances. 8.4 of the Outdoor Events Policy clarifies that processing applications received outside the stated lead-in times is at the Council's discretion. In this case: • The council were aware that Assembled Gala were preparing an application for the event to take place in 2025 in advance of their submission date, with operational discussions already taking place • GALA festival has been taking place in Peckham Rye Park since 2018 – less time is needed regarding event planning than if it were a new event • The GALA team already have a Premises Licence in place for this event (this is a pre- requisite for the Event Licence to be issued), so no time needed to be factored in for a premises licence application and decision-making process" So despite the fact that there would need to be major planning decisions due to the change of site access, they didn't think Gala needed to adhere to the same rules as everyone else? Makes me wonder what other rules they are exempted from... On a similar note, has anyone received a Resident Communication letter, containing the contact details for issues?
