Hi I received a penalty charge notice today for going into the bus lane at the top of Rye Lane, I have never driven through Peckham before so was trying to navigate. I should have gone left and re-entered the one way system I suppose, but it was confusing. I can't remember seeing a turn left sign, or a sign on a post that I was entering a bus lane. Has anyone else been unfortuanate or better still contested this pcn....please no smug 'you should have cycled' nonsense, I cycle most of the time.....

Hi. Same happened to me. It just feels natural to go straight but if you go back and look you will see the signs. I asked for video but there's no getting out of it. Must say its pretty dangerous turning left then right to carry on going straight. No need for it. Just a money making scheme

Really there should be a way out as if you don't know the area and are behind 3

large buses you'd never see it coming - there's bad design there.

When it was a one way system you couldn't do the left-right thing -

which is dangerous IMHO.

But the law is the law :)

You can see the photos if you go online. This happened to me. I think I had one tyre in the bus lane, I contested it and never heard back. So perhaps look to see what you did from the photos. The details of how to see this should be on the penalty notice. You can also contest it online.

Foggy - sorry about your penalty charge. I think Southwark (and Lambeth) signage is terrible, especially if you're new to the area.

Then again, I always enjoy driving down the bus lane coming down from Peckham Rye towards the ED leisure centre towards Goose Green on a Sunday.

I do it with startling regularity - waiting for one to come through now actually.

Pay it with contempt and villify the council for their money making schemes - was there a pot hole in the vacinity that caused you to swerve into that lane and once in it you went with it as any other further manouver would be deemed unsafe and pose a risk to the general public ?

Worth a try and they will have to investigate - the cost of the investigation (checking the road and the maintenance records) will be more expensive than your fine....winwin.

On second thoughts your screwed - STOP press there may be hope.

If my stree tview image is correct and the sign is except for acess tell them you needed to access it http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=10&t=817356

Yep tempted fate - ?65 for parking in a loading bay tossers, now waiting for a bus lane fine

Absolutely agree about the problem of following a bus and missing the signage .

And while we're on the subject - Southwark have changed their pay by telephone parking system .

So DONT RELY ON A TEXT TO WARN THAT TIME IS RUNNING OUT - they're no longer sent .

    • Happy birthday! I've just read a bunch of your reviews and really enjoyed it. You write Interestingly without being too ornate, and you manage to give a really good insight into the "vibe" of a place as well as the food. Totally agree with your review of Rocca - it's simple, great food in a friendly atmosphere at a completely reasonable price, esp considering the location.
    • Hello,  I am a 52-year old mother and an integrative counsellor who lives and works in West Dulwich, SE21. In mid January I am starting a new training in Parent Infant Psychotherapy (helping parents to bond with their babies), and a key component of the course is a 24-month infant observation.  I’m looking for someone who will be giving birth ideally in January or February and who would allow me to observe their baby for one hour a week until the baby’s second birthday. The baby can be awake or asleep, playing, feeding, eating or interacting with carer/s and family members - whatever they normally do at that time.  The purpose of the observation is to enable me to gain a thorough knowledge of very early infant development and to develop the capacity to maintain an observationally minded and non-judgemental attitude in my work as an infant-parent psychotherapist.  I will provide enhanced DBS clearance and I’m happy to answer any questions.  Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07949716043. I would be extremely grateful for any leads. Many thanks,  Millie  Millie Burton, MBACP Integrative Counsellor [email protected] millieburton.com
    • I keep my promises...had the Sweet & Sour Chicken.  It was great - the best sweet and sour dish I've ever had. The chicken itself was good and the sauce seemed home made with real vegetables and pineapple - it is NOT the red sugar sauce goo you get elsewhere.  The Korean fried chicken was very good but the sweet chili sauce was much more chili than sweet - just far too spicy for me. There is a honey something sauce that I will get next time. Egg fried veggie rice was good as a side.  We also ordered the chicken katsu curry which was polished off so quickly I didn't get to taste it. It looked very good tho. SD is not like Magic Wok used to be - cheap and filling but junk food. (Don't get me wrong - I went often to Magic Wok). SD's food is much higher quality, real ingredients, chunky portions, freshly prepared. I'll be back, for sure.
    • I saw these pair of ducks opposite Peckham rye today not quite sure what breed they are as I've never seen ones like them before
