Dare I say it was quite badly managed and underwhelming. I walked in and just saw a guy who seemed to be in charge grabbing items off someone's arms saying 'no, not for sale; not that either; not those'. Why not mark things that are not on sale; or even better not have them on display. I was put off by the poor attitude. Popular though so hope they sold the stuff they wanted.

I'd love it if it was Ottolenghi, they do the most divine salads and cakes. :)

it would hardly be an Ottolenghi if there's any truth in the 'modern english restaurant' rumour.

I can see it now....'The East Dulwich Chop House' 'The East Dulwich Oyster Bar & Grill' 'ED Brasserie/Bistro/Kitchen+whatever' etc etc. Complete with quintessentially english, no-nonsense menu of faggots, game, ox cheeks, rhubarb jelly & crumble.

the modern english "rumour" was something I posted, heaving been minsinformed by one of the painters. I was later told by the owner (and our new next door neighbour) that it would be a "modern" menu. presumably a new chef's take. must say, I am looking forward to finding out.

That sounds fantastic - hope you're right! I've been really missing Green and Blue since it closed.

G&B was really good for a number of years, but I walked out of there twice in its final 12 months as they had nothing on their 'improved' and later 'expanded' menus to tempt me with. I hope the new place offers something different and doesnt make the same mistakes its predecessor did.

"Think we need something more practical like a Greggs or BK. We don't need another pretentious independent shop to add to the rest of the shops aimed at only a small niche middle-class price range."

I haven't been on here for a year or two, but thrilled to see "Louisa" is still hammering away at this gag.

I hadn't realised she was that local.   "Rachel Reeves apologises for London rental rules breach as Tories demand her sacking | The Standard" https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/rachel-reeves-rental-rules-break-east-dulwich-family-home-southwark-council-b1255584.html
    • Thanks ianr. So no mention of either Tesco  or October? So we are no further forward with knowing when the Tesco will actually open? The place seems to have been empty for ages. I would have thought Tesco might have wanted to be up and running in time for Christmas, but maybe that isn't relevant to a relatively small Tesco Express? ETA: The wonders of the space bar, eh? It took me more  time than it should have done to see the difference between the two addresses in your previous post!
