Mortgage Adviser recommendations..

Recommended Posts

London & County are great - we had a tricky request ie partner starting new job, me freelance and vendor wanting a 4 week completion, they handled everything and we got a better rate than going direct to the mortgage provider. http://www.lcplc.co.uk/ Our guy was Robert Gibb
Lee Francis from Francis Stone is a lovely chap, lives in East Dulwich, and helped us get a brilliant mortgage deal last year. Definitely worth getting in touch with him - I've recommended him many times. You can email him on [email protected] or phone 020 7654 7975. Good luck!

Interesting to hear all the positive feedback for L&C.

We used L&C and had a very poor experience. In the initial consultation I specifically explained that I wasn't a British National and asked if this would be a problem. I was told it wouldnt be and he would ensure that he wouldn't use any banks or building societies where it would be. The mortgage that was recommended was from a small Northern building society which I'd never heard have. We had the deposit and qualified for the mortgage but 5 weeks into the process he told me that we'd been declined as I wasn't a British National. The whole deal almost fell through because of this as the vendor was getting extremely restless. I felt that L&C were very pushy in selling mortgage and contents insurance as well. They were calling me several times a week trying to sell me products that were no used to me if the deal didn't go ahead!

I ended up dealing with Halifax directly who were brilliant. Sorted everything in 2 weeks and able to offer me a much better rate than what L&C had initially found for me. I much preferred dealing dirtectly with the bank as I was able to find out exactly what was going on without using L&C.

Good luck with your purchase!

Good luck!

    • I am trying to find out about people's experiences of the 4+ and 7+ assessments. I am a teacher and have a wealth of experience tutoring for theses assessments (including my own son), but it's always good to keep on top of things as they always make tweaks to them. TIA!
    • "Sep, you don't even live here."   ???
    • "You have no idea why"   To be fair Sue, it's blindingly obvious to anyone who has a conversation with anyone who isn't a Corbyn supporter. And even some who liked Corbyn (like me initially) found him somewhat flaky even at his most popular But let's say you are right and I have NO idea why anybody might not vote for him. They still didn't vote for him. He lost two elections. The second one badly (and strongly predicted but the stubborn old goat wouldn't budge so we we were stuck with Johnson and another 3 million PMs in the 5 years that followed) So even with ZERO evidence, we have our eyes and ears and brains But we do have evidence   https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/27022-their-own-words-why-voters-abandoned-labour
    • As I said, it was my understanding. I worded it very carefully. I didn't/don't know for sure, so clearly not a fact. And hardly an "opinion", which is something completely different. You have no idea what reason anybody might have had for not voting for him (unless you can point to some opinion poll results which actually asked people?)
