The Mag

Recommended Posts

I think the point is they have stopped posting everywhere. Twitter, Facebook et al

If they are such wilting flowers it doesn't bode well for the business

(Unusually harsh line for me to take there. I want this place to do well. But apart from initial plan and enthusiasm, I've been increasingly unimpressed)

I think its dead as a DoDo. There's more chance of the Cherry Tree re-hiring that great chef than the Patch raising ?80k to grow tomatoes on the Mag's roof. Compared to the Ivy House takeover (different I know) this looks like pie in the sky.

It will die in it's current form. It already has. So it's still wide open for someone to come in with a great idea for a new venture. Like a dedicated Mum-pub - a multi use space aimed purely at families and mums with babies during the day. Pregnancy yoga, ante natal classes, kit the back out in soft matting and plastic ball pits etc. A regular daily calendar of events for different toddler ages. And a mum-bar at the front selling wine, coffee and cake. Dad's hang out on a Saturday morning. Dad n baby sport sessions in the afternoon. Hasn't been done yet.

But it isn't still wide open if the Patch have (has?) now taken it over .....

I cannot see this veg-growing thing working, for various reasons, though it would be nice if it did, but I do hope that somebody finally makes a go of the Mag.

The Facebook page does say they have the keys and are starting work on the interior - I will support it as another ED venture which is good for us all and wish them luck.

Why would they post comments here for the majority of you to continue your negative posts on the forum.

Lets wait a bit and see what happens to the Patch and see what publicity they use to promote it by posts/twitter/website/Facebook etc.

Lets wait and see if they provide the promise they had earlier, we may also learn why there were delays and why the kickstarter scheme was not really promoted!

I hope you don't - but I bet some of you do respond negatively!

The Patch on Facebook Yesterday:

"We now have the keys and the work starts today - please keep checking in and we will keep you updated with progress/photos/email addresses etc - and please feel absolutely free to pop by and have a look . Make suggestions about absolutely anything you want and we will do our best to help - the aim of The Patch is to become a true community venue and we welcome your input"

"Please spread the word to friends - I would like to reach 500 likes in a couple of weeks"

The Patch on Facebook Today:

"How do people feel about us putting on the occasional night of comedy - maybe on a Sunday night ?"

The Patch on Facebook this week:

?Poster: Do you have a launch date?

Reply ? 11 July at 15:43 The Patch we are moving in on Tuesday at 12 noon.... Building will start next day!!! Pop in and have a chat anytime! Arnold

Poster: Amazing! We live across the road so we will certainly be popping in!

Me: Can I suggest you do a bit of actual publicity about this then and keep the community informed. You have not updated Twitter, Facebook or posted on the widely read forum. By posting odd tidbits like this, all you are doing is making people suspicious.

Reply: A very valid point Chloe - Now we have the keys and its all systems go - trust me we will be making a big old song and dance about The Patch and welcoming input from the community ?

Opening at the end of August it seems according to an email from the Kickstarter project:

Project Update #14: The Patch - update - opening soon

Just a quick update to let you know that The Patch will be opening at the end of August - and despite the Kickstarter campaign not achieving what we hoped - we have raised the funds through a team of investors and its all systems go !!

Please feel free to drop by and see how the works are going and to keep in touch please visit The Patch on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/dulwichpatch?ref=hl
