Four Egyptian goslings gone already. These Geese need to graze and/or have grains etc to eat.

No chance of grazing within the lake railings so no doubt the mouse size goslings are great dog sport when out on the greens. Consider taking wheat, oats lentils and fresh grass clippings to support them if that isn't in contradiction to the anti rat rules.

2 Red Kites? swooping around in the thermals above my house today.

Don't think they are red kites. Red kites have very distinctive forked tails ( unless yours  do and it doesn't show clearly on the photo?) You see a lot of them on the M40.

I saw a large bird fly over my road yesterday which I couldn't identify, maybe it was one of these. What road are you in? I'm near North Cross Road.

Surely the birds in this photo are just seagulls?

Article regarding dangers of feeding bread to swans for those unaware of health risks to ducks and other wildfowl:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/rspca-swans-flamingo-pink-bolton-park-b2508748.html

'Visitors to Moses Gate Country Park in Bolton called the RSPCA after spotting the bevy of swans looking tickled pink.

The charity said the group of birds were suffering from “pink feather syndrome”, which can result in swans struggling to swim and fly.

The condition is caused by a fungus which occurs when bread starts to decay in water. '

...

'RSPCA animal rescue officer Stephen Wickham, who collected the swans, said: “We know how much people enjoy feeding swans, ducks and geese, however, it’s important to make sure they are given the right food.

“Unfortunately, bread fills them up without giving them the nutrients they need and it can affect their health.

“We’d encourage people to offer them finely chopped greens, such as cabbage, spinach and lettuce, as well as mixed corn, grain, wheat or bird seed.

“Any feeding should also be done in moderation and only as a supplement to their natural diet.”'

I've found something slimy lurking in my new pond. I didn't want to disturb it but  it was in long strands. Could it be toad sperm?. It would be the first time ever if it is.

I think you may mean spawn rather than sperm? 😂

But yes, toads do it in long strands.

Saw the lesser redpoll when I came home.  So excited.  Indulge me will you EDF....  My views on bread and ducks, not at odds with consensus, can wait ☺️

You are very lucky, Malumbu.

I mostly get large numbers of sparrows and a few very greedy wood pigeons.

And the occasional robin ❤️

    • I highly recommend Temi as a very skilled and reliable painter / decorator based in the East Dulwich & SE London area. She has completed many jobs for us over the past 10 years at our property on Overhill Road SE22 and also on Harlescott Road SE15, and we have always been thoroughly impressed with her work. We often leave her with keys and leave her to work her magic, fully confident that she's 100% trustworthy and will always do a fantastic job. If you're looking for a trustworthy local decorator who delivers exceptional work Temi is a great person to call. I'm not affiliated with her or her business in any way and actually found her through a recommendation on the ED forum over 10 years ago, i just like to recommend really good tradespeople who deserve a thank you. • ''He caused chaos  in this country with his put down of everything British and his many dismal words about the effects of Brexit on this country.'' What utter tosh. Carney had to mitigate the effects of Brexit caused by plastic patriots like Farage. For example, immediately after the 2016 Brexit vote the BoE had to intervene fiscally by dropping interest rates and increasing QE in order to prevent the economy from taking a big hit.  They were unable to prevent the £ from crashing at the time, and it has since been worked out that the effect of that alone caused a circa £900/year hit to each UK household, which equates to the UK @ £450m/week.   There's reams of data out there that shows the economic damage Brexit has caused to the UK. Here's one looking at business investment, admittedly not very sexy but kinda important if you want to achieve economic growth. It's clear to see that prior to 2016 we had reached parity with some of our main rivals, but since then we've flatlined. All that Brexit has achieved is to win the race to the bottom. There's a reason why Farage never brought up Brexit at the last election, he knows himself it hasn't delivered on any of the promises, quite the reverse in fact.  Labour, stupidly, by saying they can make Brexit work have in effect given Farage a Get Out of Jail Free card...
