ingerland were shite headless bantams.

Germany didnt break sweat, england were shattered after futile running about mindlessly for the first half- they will be taken to the cleaners when they meet a professional outfit after the group stage in the WC.

Spot on.

if the WC was decicded on excess, lurking around nighclubs, nasty tats, vulgar cars, shocking taste in Music & bad haircuts, then England deserve the trophy. Those bastards at FIFA have decided it should be based on football skills. how dare they.. England invented the game. the WC is morally Englands.forever.

BTW, I dont actually wish failure on Ingeland- except at Scotlands cost ( some hope of that...) but when you hear verbose nasally poltroons like gerrard saying that this is the best squad he has ever been with, then you know its not going to end well.

good luck anyway. Hodgson is a decent straight bloke- he will be given pelters after the WC.blates.

I can't help myself!!

From The Scotsman:

AN ADVERTISEMENT for the Rangers Football Club has been cleared following 78 complaints that it described itself as ?Scotland?s most successful club?.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said 78 complainants believed that the new club was only formed in 2012.

The RFC said previous owner the Rangers Football Club PLC, named as Oldco, went into administration in 2012, but the business was bought by Rangers Football Club Ltd, or Newco.

The ASA said ?we noted an independent commission appointed by the SPL and the European Club Association had reached the conclusion the football club was a ?recognisable entity in its own right, and continued in existence despitetransfer to another owner and ?operator?..

Good result for Scotland tonight albeit reportedly against the run of play. Amazing what a change of manager and a change of attitude can have.

WGS has done a great job with a very limited set of players.

Wonder how we will fair in the Euro qualifiers. Hope we get a decent draw.

I'd love to have seen Sweden's recovery complete if just to annoy Ronaldo, but then I guess he has a right to be an arrogant sod, he's the kind of player who does this under the highest pressure.

We really do have a journeyman team, almost casually dissected by a pretty journeyman german performance.

A bit depressing. I can't wait til the world cup but I can't see myself getting worked up about England games.

friendly schmendly

This England team aren't going to win the world cup - all of the usual foibles are present and correct - but they will play significantly better than last two games

But England fans really do seem to swing from elation to despair on just game to game basis. I haven't got stats to hand but I recall reading something along the lines of any international team who go on to do well at a tournament tend to have iffy firendlyperformances beforehand

    • Thanks for that - none  of mine  have been Mordena - whilst vulnerable cat, think I will just take my chances… Will be having flu though - certainly not by choice - much prefer not to but in vulnerable group.. Avoided them until last year…. Luck of drawer if you are as sick as fog  or just sore arm … assume - god knows - that flu jab is same throughout country.
    • Wow, that is what it costs for one prisoner. So they get full board and lodging, 24 hour  monitoring  in over populated prison, we are led to believe, minimum exercise, assume a tv in each cell provided - in USA it is together with wash hand basin and c toilet - some have showers as well.   Clearly this amount of money takes  into account overstretched and overworked prison officers, protection for them, counselling which is, in my opinion a bare minimum dealing with prisoners in all settings. Do if Sweden can look outside the box, why can’t we? Or are we just not bothered at all / read statistics some where that reoffending is normal and to be frank, with economy as it is at the moment re employment, cost of living and homelessness..not surprised they reoffend to get back inside - food provided, roof over your head - much better than street living, mixing with wrong crowd, trying to get roof over your head, find a job where 90 % won’t employ you as been inside..
    • @beansprout The Swedes seem to have a useful strategy with regard to offenders  which has reduced repeat offending.  I agree that prison time for minor offences is a complete waste of time. Even worse is that prisons are "colleges of crime" where inmates learn about how to be do crimes and worst of all, become exposed to drug taking. I wouldn't advocate having chain gangs as in the USA but some strategy for getting them into say manual work under supervision might be useful - especially if it came with a modest wag. This would be significantly cheaper than the £51,100 it costs per year for  keeping one in jail.
