My food bin was not emptied for two weeks, put in a form week one… nothing happened, tried to put in a form week 2, but was told on the phone I had to wait until after 4pm. Put in a form after 4pm , nothing happened so put in an official complaint on the phone and finally two weeks worth of smelly stuff collected.
I hadn’t noticed week 1 that it had not been collected, only knew as the local foxes worked out how to open the brown food caddy…spreading uncollected waste all over my front yard…so I was annoyed on several levels.
My other bins are casually thrown halfway across the street every collection day, despite me putting them out where it is convenient for the crew and making sure they do not have to move the other colour bin to get to the green or blue bin. They also throw other peoples bins into my front yard.

I would appreciate my food bin to be emptied and some care taken when replacing bins.

Bin collection line 020725 2000 worth trying, however I found them dismissive and my issue was not resolved.

Complaints 0207525 0042 …. Actually spoke to a really excellent customer service advisor, I think only accessible on week days -office hours. She was very helpful and resolved my uncollected bin issue

I'm sure it's me having computer brain fog, but I noticed other posters had replies to their missed bin reports but I've never had an answer even though I've reported many times. I know it says they get back to you but where and how?

I'm hoping last week's garden waste will finally get emptied tomorrow, but I'm now thinking even if they do come, will they ignore it , as still haven't received my sticker for this year? We'll see.

I just spoke to the bin man who was taking the food waste bin and he said he doesn't take the brown garden waste bin! He said that was another round. Strange as theyre always taken together. He said to ring them and complain.

I think that as a group we should escalate this further if they're not emptied today.

Mine was cleared as usual in Underhill. Were other bins cleared in your road or were they all missed? Is the problem to do with the route as a whole, or your bin being missed out on its own? Does it have the right stickers on it? If it is just your bin could you work from home next Tuesday or get someone to monitor why it's being missed if other bins on the route are being collected. The guys on my route seem pretty straight and generally helpful.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
