This is very bad news... It can't be due to poor sales etc. It was started up by the chap in Barry's shop next door. Perhaps it's a rent issue or a offer that couldn't be refused?

When I asked them last week why they were closing the response was "we've all decided to go our seperate way," which therefore seems unlikely they'll be opening up elsewhere unfortunately.

I had a chat with one of the long-term waiters and he said there will be a bakery-cum-cafe moving in, but that some of the present staff might well stay, which bodes well for continuity. I asked him to pass on to the new owners that I didn't want a cookie-cutter, Luca's-style place so I hope it'll get heeded. If you like it as it is please ask the new people not to change it too much.
