Easter is a coming in. We're thinking of going away for a few days but will we bump into someone who hitherto we have only noticed lurking in the queue for William Rose or the Cheese Block ?

How many times have you been away and met someone who lives in East Dulwich ? Wells- next -sea and Whitstable spring to mind as does Bedruthan Steps in Cornwall (avoid the latter if you are not a Jonnie Boden/deck shoes aficionado). Anyone met an ED inhabitant further afield? Answers on your best holiday postcard......

I believe Mr & Mrs georgia Bullock bumped into some Dulites in Tunisia recently.

2 of my old schoolmates bumped into each other in a small grocers in a one stop town in the middle of nowhere in south Island New zealand just a couple of weeks ago, so it really is a small world.

I'll be off to Italy in June where I think it's exceedingly highly I'll bump into a couple of Dulites, as at least two of them will be getting married to each other :)

haha yes - how dare anyone like beautiful places with reliably good weather and great food - up against the wall with the bourgeoisie.

I shall be sitting in a deckchair under grey skies at Butlins with a knotted hankie on my head eating greasy chips from a paper cone.

Precisely Blinder. Wrong side of bed James?

Being Andalucian I can't tell you how much we admire the salt of the earth Englanders who don't learn the language, eat sausage and chips, play bingo and puke all over our fine streets after too much carling.

We just hate those middle class types who enjoy and embrace the culture, disgusting ;)

Me and a mate bumped into a couple girls from the Lord Palmerston once whilst on holiday in Ibiza a few years back. We met them in the departure lounge whilst having a drink waiting for our delayed flight. Got pissed with them. They were staying at our hotel as well. Thought we'd never shake 'em off. They were nice enough girls but not really the sort you'd want to take home and introduce to your mother and being the young scamps that we were then our eyes were roving and we wanted to sample the local delicacies and the other varieties that were on offer, so to speak.>:D

Mrs M and I honeymooned in Mongolia 5 years ago - no one from ED there (at that time) - anyone else been?

(I've also never met anyone from East Dulwich in Japan, China, Venezuela, Mexico, Guatemala, Vietnam, Malaysia, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, India or anywhere else I've been.)

This year, with only a trip to Scotland for a wedding planned so far, and possibly a trip to Somerset, we may be more lucky...

Sorry James, my bad.

Travelling with the Irish Mrs Mockney, she suffers from the irish ailment of needing to find a connection with people in a Kevin Baconesque fashion. Of course they're highly skilled at this and she usually manages it somehow.

Last time we were in Ireland we met an ex-Dulite now living in Sydenham (not you Keef).

I do not like France at all. Some of the department stores and restaurants have toilet cubicles with doors that are about a foot off the floor, so the people outside can admire your shoes and rob your handbag. It is terribly undignified! Also, you can find the occasional establishment with a hole in the floor type porcelain toilet - and their toilet paper is unnecessarily paper like in consistency.

No, no, no, France is best left to the French. The Germans, now they always have good facilities. Go to Germany. The French are virtually barbarians...

Really Mark? Fantastic.

I stayed in a bizarre looking hotel called hotel Italia which was outside the centre near the old university, but an interesting 20 minute walk in, or a couple of minutes on the tram.

It was pleasant enough and not too pricey by any stretch.

Hopefully some of the accommodation costs will have dropped as they get hugely inflated by big NATO and UN presence there, which is now being scaled back big time.

Ooh, I'm sooo jealous, I loved Sarajevo. Make sure you go to The Bar which was just superb. And get a ?eleznice top, my brother loved his.

And be sure to load up on Euros before you go, you don't want to have to go anywhere near a bank, of this I can assure you.

    • Hi there, We are currently having issues with our current nursery in ED, and are looking for an excellent childminder or nanny locally. We live on Melbourne Grove so can walk within a 5-10 min radius. Ideally to start in January 2026 please. We have a 14 month old girl. Any recommendation for other childcare providers would be appreciated too! Thanks a lot, Jojo

    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
