It'll be a strange old mid-afternoon without her. Trying to put words together and then doing maths.

A couple of questions.

Has anyone on here appeared on Countdown?

Do you have the teapot to prove it?

If you did, did you get a 'niner'?

Did Carole flirt with you?

Did she flirt with you regardless of your gender?

As a male Roman Catholic student, at home on your own, did you ever commit a mortal sin with yourself that involved Carole Vorderman?

Just interested.

I don't see anything wrong in principle with having a multi-millionaire and all-round maths whizz telling you who'll still give you a loan - even if you've already got a fistful of credit cards you can't pay off, CCJs, no job, a criminal record and your house is about to be repossessed.

The offer made to Vorderman (90% cut if reports are to be believed) suggests that C4 are happy to seen Countdown end - it was never the same for me afte they extended it from 30 to 45 mins

As for how "bad" she feels as she still loves the show and the fans so much - well..... it's not like she can't afford to take the hit is it? She still gets a fair wedge for doing something she "loves" -

I liked her advert for Benecol.. the one where she demonstrated that Benecol could actually help 'lower' your cholesterol by pinching her fingers together when she said the word 'lower'. Because up until that point I didn't actually know what 'lower' meant.

Thanks, Carol!

CAROLE VORDERMAN IN LINE TO BECOME NEXT POPE

So, the final countdown has started The thinking man's Carol Smilie, Carol Vorderman has shocked her many loyal fans by revealing her intention to be the next Pope.

Pontificating upon her desire to be the next Pontif, the brainbox behind Countdown, and those slightly sinister adverts where she invites all and sundry to consolidate their debts said:

"For a while now, I have needed a new challenge. Laughing at the jokes of Des Lynam, Des O'Connor, and Des from Neighbours (the bloke who looked like a long lost member of Showadywaddy,) is all very well, but it means that I don't have that much time to give back to society, and I feel that a slightly less stressful job is what I really need."

    • I've just had James from Trelco round doing taps and hot water.  Prompt, efficient and pleasant people and the cost came in under what we thought it would be! Will definitely use them again.
    • Yes - adult care is a large part of the CT bill.  That does not mean the council spend our money well or wisely.
    • “What do councils spend all the money on?” Is, in my view, one of the most profoundly emblematic of our times  we go about our lives, backed up by councils and governments and complain they aren’t needed  reform win elections based on “we’re gonna go in and slash all the waste!” Only to later admit there effectively isn’t any oh and by the way we need to increase council tax   Now all we have to offer is racism and ineptitude sorry about that  https://www.gbnews.com/money/reform-elon-musk-doge-failed-savings So where does the money go? On a multitude of services - but the increasingly aged population and the care provision required is a large part of it  the government could give councils more money to avoid council tax rises  - but the we would have to pay more in jewels taxation  and as a country we tend to pay less than other similar countries  so we end up with an expensive mend and make do approach  I don’t see any political parties offering a solution   Starmer is obviously lacking in many areas but he is the result of a hostile media and a reluctant population willing to hear truths  (wait until we hear how much we will need to increase defence spending by in the coming years) If a party stopped pretending all the money was wasted but published a list of costs, projections and proposals that wasn’t gutted to suit the landscape of needing to not bemonstered by the press or deemed too expensive by voters I would be very interested      can’t see that happening tho  (also worth reminding ourselves of all the brexiters who said things like “I don’t care how much it costs   I don’t care if I lose my job  it’s about taking back control!” And yet now we find them complaining about increasing costs. As they always will complain about everything  because it’s always someone else’s fault)
    • I wouldn't be going all the way to Dobbies  just to take flowerpots! 😀 It's a very good garden centre with a wide range of well kept  plants and helpful staff, at least it was on the only occasion I've visited it, last year!
