Hi everyone, we just launched a website called People's Republic of Southwark, a place to read and talk about a range of environmental issues in the borough.

We are two Camberwell based artists who believe that there are many little and big things we can all do, individually or together, to improve our lives, improve the environment, relearn to breathe and let the planet do the same before it's too late.

People's Republic of Southwark is a place to

* write and/or read about current environmental issues in the borough

* exchange ideas and share your experiences

* find out about resources and funding available in Southwark for environmental initiatives

* learn about what other people are doing, and how you can get involved

* get support for any environmental projects you are involved with

People's Republic of Southwark is about all of us. All you need to do is register and make a difference.

If you have any queries, please contact us at [email protected]

Wouldn't it be far better if we had The Peoples Republic of Dulwich?

I mean, we are such a super perfect and divine oasis of green loveliness here in SE21/22 - nothing at all like our neighbouring Southwark areas of Peckham (OHMYGOD) Forest Hill (yawn) Camberwell (yikes), Herne Hill (snore) or Norwood (inhales sharply...) which is only Lambeth and should not be permitted to be our neighbour at all.

Why don't we campaign to have Dulwich turned into a gated community? We could build an enormous wall (I believe that they once had similar in Berlin and Belfast) sigh. I feel sure it could work. We could pay some small extra tax to for beefy men to patrol the perimeter with big dogs - darling Chavlet avec a law degree is sure to be able to suggest some burley boys(swoon)!

Does anyone fancy a G&T?

Honaloochie, no, we're artists.

The name to the website is a reference to 'People's republic of Judea' or 'Judean people's republic' - there is a great number of good things going on in Southwark, a lot of small or largeish groups of people are trying to do good things (from reducing the use of plastic bags to improving cycling facilities etc), some of them have websites, some of them don't - People's Republic of Southwark is the place where they can all talk about it, share experiences, get help with things if they need it etc.

Perhaps you could have called it 'Romans in Southwark' ('What have the Romans ever done for us?' etc. etc.)

pit-bull nipple chips down the OKR yet.

Did I ever tell you PGC I always read your posts

they're such good value, and very informative.

I think I am falling in love:-$

"Know your own history, you disgraceful mob, Hengist and Horsa were English*."

Actually, PGC, Mockers was on topic with a reference to the snacks for sale at the meeting of the People's Front of Judaea.

Also, DM, I take great and sniffy offence at your disparagement of Peckham. I'll have you know I live in Posh Peckham. And I like to think it's all the posher for having me in it.

*except for those of you who aren't English. Kentish, in fact. Or disgraceful. Or a mob. But you know what I mean. I think. Or do you? Do I?..

    • I'm so sorry to hear Bean hasn't returned home. It hasn't been a particularly good day for weather, so I do hope she's just sheltering nearby until the rain settles down. Are there any renovations/construction sites nearby? In the meantime, notify your street & surrounding area (many have Whatsapp groups) Where are you located? Hopefully it doesn't come to this, but just in case, Dox will print & deliver 50 free missing posters https://www.doxdirect.com/help/free-missing-pet-posters/ Try calling for her this evening & early hours of the morning when street & foot traffic is at its lowest (in case she's found herself out front). Often times, when it comes to unusual disappearances, it's neighbouring renovations, general construction work, fireworks or weather that sends them into hiding. They can end up finding themselves in unfamiliar places. Is Bean microchipped? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes & will keep a look out for her. I hope you are reunited with Bean soon. • The fact that some people in England seem to be narrowly focussed on the eejit that is mandelson whilst ignoring the real villains in the whole Epstein thing is… revealing  and those villains are lauded and unaffected
    • How profound. You should post more often.
    • Our beloved cat Bean is missing - last seen heading outside  in the early hours of this morning (Weds 18 Feb). She doesn’t usually stay out long or stray far from the garden. She is always home for breakfast and usually sleeps inside all day, so we’re very worried about her. Please let me know if you see her. Thank you
