Er right...point of correction for you all.

The non descript block opposite the CPT was actually designed by a respected architect who was constrained in design by planning regulations but whose brief was to provide a number of comfortable, smaller energy efficent flats for singetons (for whom there is a shortage of housing apparently).

It did take a while to finish but was ready for occupation in early July this year and now all but one of the flats have been let (after 6 weeks). And SeanMLow I know you are in the trade but even your valuations of ?1900 pcm for a 2 bed are way off. And they are all 1 beds (bar one) and letting for around ?900-ish so get your facts right. Agents ! grrr...

Agree its a bit bland but it has made a lot more housing available on that plot to those who don't own a place. And its full of single people for anyone looking to pull.

And surely the police station is the worst 21st building!

MrBen

Brendan - Should not to be confused with "affordable" housing schemes. Not sure anything is that affordable these days!

My point is only that it has created more housing in ED for the younger crowd. The alternative would have been to develop the existing house for private sale to 1 (reasonably well off judging by current prices) family....

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
