Getting rid of an old mattress??

Yes, Southwark will pick it up, just fill out the form or call them to arrange the day/time.

We are so lucky here. Just been to Bournemouth to see family. The council want ?35 to move my sisters old sofa from the street (if she could afford to dump it). She is a single mum on benefits and wants to shift some stuff to the tip but has no car. The council wanted ?68 for moving the lot.

Southwark will take up to 15 items per calendar month for nowt.

Actually, Lewisham collect mattresses for free - but they do charge for other stuff.

I wonder what the council tax is in these other boroughs? Also if the council didn't take the stuff people would dump it like some people I have seen from their business premises because they have to pay for removal- and don't say I should have reported them because they saw me and know where I live and they are not particularly pleasant

We deconstructed ours, we put the outer covering in the cloth recycling and the padding we used for lining garden pots and the springs we left outside and the scrap man took them away in a few hours.

You've got a fair bit of time on your hands then ? This sounds like the act of destruction from someone who wants to be moved to a different prison.

Believe it or not it only took about half an hour to take it apart didn't know they had so little too them.
