Color of money, 80s classic!

To really appreciate Color of Money you need to see it back to back with the 60's classic "The Hustler". Then if you watch the Hustler you need to see STeve Mcqueen in The Cincinnatti Kid.

Newman was never less than good to watch and often close to great. In Road to Perdition (his last[?] film) he gave an Oscar level performance.

When great actors die it changes my view - they are / were part of my firmanent.

Was Paul Newman the lead actor in Cool Hand Luke? Here I was thinking he was the guy out of all those National Lampoon's flicks.

I really am completely rubbish at movie stuff that doesn?t involve Kevin Smith or Quentin Tarantino.

You are Brendan, you really are.

Marlon Brando did some of his finest work in those NL films, all in vain as far as you're concerned.

All the profits from his salad dressings after tax went to charity - over ?100m over the years.

He was also a very sucessful motor racing driver and came 2nd in the Le Mans 24 hour race in a professional team when in his 50's - a major feat for anyone.

He was happily married to Joanna Woodward for over 50 years.

AND he was a successful actor.

Pretty damn good contribution to the world I would say.

    • Yup. At best I have people who detest Trump shrugging and saying something like “what ya gonna do?” Like that is any kind of answer what we gonna do is condemn, and watch out for same happening here - and watch out for all the handmaidens who would allow this to happen.  Apologists for Farage, Jenrick etc
    • There are plenty of Jewish people on these marches, who have every right to stand up and say not in our name. A Jewish bloc attends every single one: https://jfjfp.com/voices/jjp-at-the-gaza-demonstrations/ Jewish peoples lives are being made less safe by this war, as we recently saw in Manchester and in the clear increase in antisemitism. They want to see Peace, and this will only happen with justice for the Palestinians. Most have - within living memory - members of their families who have been murdered by an authoritarian regime. They know what they are seeing and why they are marching. Calling going on march 'indulging in Jew hatred' is just ridiculous. You've clearly never been on one. Engage your critical faculties and think about why these marches are being smeared, rather than spouting what the right wing press and home secretary tell you.
