mockney piers
I did some work with these guys at Cooltan on sunday. It is SE5 though.I was contacted by a friend who wanted some camera time from me, and I met some lovely and interesting people and clearly it's a fantastic resource (referred out of the Maudsley) for people who have suffered mental health issues.I'm sure they'd be delighted if you got involved. Coach Beth
Try the Southwark Volunteer Centre - most charities in Southwark will register their needs for volunteers with the volunteer centre and they can do a search by postcode for you. Here is the link to their site! http://www.volunteercentres.org.uk/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4257-volunteering/#findComment-135927 Share on other sites

BARA
The Fair Trade Centre at Christ Church Barry Road is always looking for volunteers on a saturday morning between 10 - 1pm.You are placed on a rota with an 'experienced' volunteer initially until you feel comfortable working in the centre.Basic knowledge in handling money, you are shown how to use the till, some marking up of goods, doing sale and returns.Contact any of the volunteers there during week 10 - 4pm, or on saturday 10 - 1 pm and they will give you Mary, the coordinator's telephone number. At least once a year all volunteers get together for a meal. Cassius
Try this: "TimeBank UK is a national charity providing volunteers with information on voluntary work and volunteering projects in the UK."If you google them there are contact details. They will take your location and interests into account when recommending anything to you. steveslack
The Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery are always looking for volunteers. There's information about current help needed on the Gallery website:http://www.dulwichpicturegallery.org.uk/support_us/friends/working_with_the_friends.aspxIt's a worthwhile organisation and there's a real sense of community too. DiD
Try the Coppleston centre. They have things like a drop in centre for refugees and other services for the local community, and I'm sure they take volunteers. Chantal
The centre for wildlife gardening on Marsden Rd, east dulwich needs volunteers on Sundays. A range of gardening activities and help with dispalys and maintenance for those with less green finers. it is a community garden run by the London wildlife Trust. it is in my opinion one of the best things about East Dulwich, and there are many.. Centre is open 10-4 and there are often events on that need people to help out with. If you are looking for more physical work, sydenham Hill woods has volunteer sundays every second week. The woods are amazing and the management is done almost solely by volunteers, a really fab example that community spirit DOES exist, even in SE London! They are based in Kentish Town, but are flexible enough to find something for you to do anywhere in London. Eg I volunteer for them in the Waterloo area every week.
