Hello,

did anyone see the group of four men hanging around on the corner of Ashbourne Gr and Lordship Lane this morning? Two were waiting near the atm, the other two in the car (dark grey ford galaxy). I live nearby so noticed them there for about 25 minutes this morning around 9am-9.25am I thought they may have been waiting for the bank to open, but they left before it did.

Or am I being paranoid having read too many threads on this forum?

Don't think you are being paranoid. Sounds like they were waiting to surprise someone at the cashpoint. Have seen it happen at the HSBC one. That time one man and he ran around corner and got in a waiting car. There was a spate of early morning robberies at the Barclays a few years ago.
I almost had my card nicked from there by a very basic Lebanese loop about a year ago but luckily managed to pull the contraption out of the card slot and retrieve my card. Reported it to the police. It was a metal coil that someone had inserted into the machine so it looked like the machine had swallowed my card. I was just about to walk off and leave it then realised and used my key to prize it out of the machine. I think someone would have been hanging around nearby hoping to get the card... Scuzz buckets!

I don't suppose you went in to the bank to report it?

Hi,

no... didn't think of it.

I took photos of the guys and got their car details so that if something did occur I could use that. But otherwise, no.

The Ashbourne/ Lordship Lane corner is a bit of a hotspot for unusual activity, with HSBC and Barclays on both corners. Does anyone know if there are CCTV cameras there - and if so, what their reach is?

I heard it said that local kids used to refer to Ashbourne Grove as 'the river', ie it ran between two banks.

    • The programme was brilliant and makes me wary now of sea paddling as so many areas affected. My daughter was working at a bank when privatisation of utility companies were floated. Bank advised its staff that only x number of shares could be purchased by individuals as Government rules at that time. She reported that certain people were seeking double and triple shares. Bank told her to ignore the guidelines as those customers had thousands of pounds in the bank. She was so disgusted at the banks attitude she handed in her notice, She decided that the financial world was too corrupt. Two degrees later - she now works in the NHS as an OT in mental health unit.

More details We believe that such a law would constitute complete violation of the Geneva Convention and International Human Rights Law. UN experts have called for these proposals to be dropped. We call on the UK Government apply considerable and substantial political pressure and the leverage of its international obligations to prevent the Israeli Government from passing this law.
